Welcome!

Hello, Giorgio Fiorelli, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  JoJan 14:08, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orthodontics

There is no magic involved. I'm an administrator and I was patrolling the new registered users to give them a welcome message and see if I can give a helping hand to newbies. I saw the quality of the images and the unwikified text. I wikified it a bit and put it in the category:Dentistry. Always put an article in a category, so that other people can find it easily.

A few recommendations :

  • you don't have to sign your article. Your name is stored in the "history" (see on top of your page, next to "edit this page").
  • when sending a message on the talk page (such as this one), always sign your message with four tildes ~~~~

As to expanding the orthodontics articles, I suppose you will find like-minded people in the Category:Dentistry. An article, such as the one you just made, is certainly a welcome quality addition to Wikipedia. As a newcomer, you will have to follow a steep learning curve to acquaint yourself with the nooks and crannies of Wikipedia. But once you realize how grand this project is (and I think you already do), you will be hooked. And if you have any questions, just ask. I may be able to answer them or otherwise I'll refer you to an appropriate help page. JoJan 14:55, 11 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The page you created called Orthodontic Encyclopedia has been deleted as being unencyclopedic. You said "I have just discovered the Wikipedia Enviroment and I found it terribly exciting. It would be great if orthodontists of all countries could cooperate in writing an encyclopedia of our specialty. If you are interested please open a page on a subject of your choice and contact me." If you want to pursue this at some later stage within Wikipedia, then you might cosider a Wikipedia:Portal. If you want to do something outside Wikipedia then the wiki article may help. But I suggest that you continue the good work you are doing here for a short time before branching out. --Henrygb 22:51, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A board for scientific peer review is in the process of being installed. All volunteers from academic circles are welcome. I think you might be a valid applicant, since there are in Wikipedia few (if any) participants with your experience in your field. By volunteering and giving your credentials, you'll also become more widely known in Wikipedia and you might get the necessary attention to attract others to participate in your project.

Some time ago you let me know on my talk page to inform you of my next stay in Italy. Well, I've just received confirmation from the tour operator that I can leave on a guided tour (nine days in total) by coach to Italy, arriving on 2 April 2006 in Rimini. From there on, we'll visit Ravenna, San Marino and Assisi. But then I'll go on my own by train to Bologna (probably two days). I plan to make a lot of photos than I can upload later on to Wikipedia Commons, to be used in articles about those cities and their artists. JoJan 09:29, 17 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Giorgio! It would be great if you could please check out the prognathism article and add some medical informations. Thanks! CoYep 16:35, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trip to Italy

Hi Giorgio ! Thanks for your message. I'm just back from Italy. I've had a very busy schedule on this interesting trip, visiting Rimini, San Marino, Ravenna, Bologna and Assisi. I've made almost 700 photos, most of which will have to be processed in Photoshop (many were made without flash inside churches and musea). I've been given a private guided tour in the Baselico San Domenico in Bologna by a Dominican friar, who showed me (during 4 hours) every part of the church and also the parts where tourists are not allowed, such as the museum, the cloister and the magnificent library. In that church alone, I've made about 100 photos. He gave me also lots of documentation. On the other hand, the San Petronio church was closed for the public (due to some obscure bomb threat), while the exterior was being renovated. I had to make my photos of the bas-reliefs of Jacopo della Quercia by zooming in through the scaffolding. The centre of Rimini is also very interesting : many old churches and a very good city museum (where I was allowed to make many photos). My photos and my documentation will keep me busy writing articles for the next couple of months. All in all, Italy is a beautiful and very interesting country, that I have visited often in the past and hope to come back in the future. JoJan 17:44, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Giorgio Fiorelli foto.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 13:27, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your professional knowledge is requested

Could you help us out with a question we have on Talk:Enamel lamellae? Thank you! Your Beloved Uncle Jimbob 02:15, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I recently completed an article on James A. McNamara, but am having lots of trouble finding information on Cecil C. Steiner. Would you perhaps have anything to add? DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 20:03, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Dentistry -- Update

Hey there! Over the past year or so, the WikiProject Dentistry has fallen into disrepair. Dozenist hasn't been around in nearly 2 years, and after some email communication, he's indicated that he's no longer interested in heading the project. In fact, the project has been labeled inactive since November 2010!

My plan is to focus less on internal bureaucratic policy and more on article creation, article clean-up and article maintenance. That's why people use Wikipedia to search for dental topics -- because it contains wonderfully explained, wonderfully formatted information on relevant topics, not because there are 5 dental articles featured as GA or 7 articles featured as such. So if that's what you like, don't let me stop you, but I think the focus should be on, as I said, article creation and article maintenance.

I welcome all comments, questions and suggestions. If you're new and you'd like help, I'll try to guide you. You can check out my latest few articles: Underwood's septa, platform switching, Bone remodeling period, Cone beam computed tomography, C-terminal telopeptide and furcation defect. You cannot imagine how many dental students I come across at Columbia who tell me they utilize Wikipedia on a weekly basis, but find that there are not enough articles on dental subjects. So let's get out there are create well written, well sourced articles on dental topics. Have a great day! DRosenbach (Talk | Contribs) 12:45, 5 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Orthodontic mechanics

The article Orthodontic mechanics has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orthodontic mechanics is best explained via the appliances that are used in orthodontics. The mechanics in orthodontics can be changed readily depending on the design of a certain appliance. Therefore, this article should be deleted and orthodontic mechanic description can be segment of each appliance described. Also it has been 10 years since this article was created and no one has made any additions to it.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello

I enjoyed some of your contributions and then realized that you haven't edited for a while. There is so much information missing on wikipedia about dentistry. I hope you consider returning to help out. Best Regards, Barbara (WVS)   11:20, 26 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
