Notability of Jennifer Mankoff

A tag has been placed on Jennifer Mankoff requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Lcarscad (talk) 04:09, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jennifer Mankoff

Hi - make sure you note your dispute on that article's talk page - the admin who decides will need to know there why you're disputing, especially if you're still editing. Right now, what's there isn't demonstrating notability according to WP:PROF, which is why I tagged it. Also, just FYI, when you write on someone's talk page, you can sign your comment by using four ~ - it's helpful to know who left the comment. Lcarscad (talk) 04:23, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About personal information

Note that it is considered bad form to reveal personal information about other users. Accordingly, I am deleting a page you created, User:T0ddw0ng. —C.Fred (talk) 05:59, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First, yes, it would be best for him to create the page about himself. There's no prohibition against editing other users' user pages; it's the fact that personal information was given that was the kicker. Giving out a real name or phone number is, as I indicated, bad form. If the user chooses to give the information out, though, that's another matter entirely.
Second, yes, there is a way to monitor both all recent changes (left sidebar) as well as contributions from new editors. To do that, click on "my contributions" at the top of the page, and then choose the option to "Show contributions of new accounts only." I monitor those changes since there's a higher-than-average chance of some form of problem edit with then. —C.Fred (talk) 06:09, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anind Dey

Another editor has added the {{prod}} template to the article Anind Dey, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of Anind Dey

I have nominated Anind Dey, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anind Dey. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Unspecified source for Image:Abowd.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Abowd.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:49, 2 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 00:49, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Gillianrh! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 939 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Anind Dey - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
