Thank you I gave up on it being an independent page so I added what I had to the Indiana County Athletics Conference Page. I tried to delete the article, but don't know if I did so correctly. Indiana County Athletic Conferences

Hey, I appreciate the help on the page with the old Henry and Wayne County conferences. I had to do a double-take, because I had just wrote up the tables for both pages on my laptop, then saw they were already there! Anyways, I made a couple of tweaks to fit the consistency of most of the IHSAA conference pages, other than that everything's great! If you have any info on any other old conferences in your neck of the woods, I'll be more than happy to work with ya to get those on here. I do have a quick question about Wayne County, none of what I've looked up has shown Knightstown or Carthage in the conference at any point in time (the geography also doesn't make sense, but common sense doesn't mean a whole lot with conferences). I have Knightstown going straight from the Henry County league to the East Central, and nothing on Carthage before they joined the ECC. I was just curious where you got that info from. I'll be the first to admit my data is far from complete (I have partial info for roughly 30 conferences from across the state), so any time I can learn something to help with those records I'm all ears. Yet another reason I appreciate having someone else look at these pages, I accidentally had Carthage and Knightstown as Wayne County Conference members on the East Central page. I looked over my files and checked my sources, and neither actually were in the WCC (Knightstown came over from the Henry County Conference, and Carthage may have been in a Rush County league, though I haven't been able to track down an actual league reference in any online newspapers). A good chunk of the Disbanded Conference pages on the bottom of the IHSAA template I created, however, since I live in Louisville, I don't have the opportunity to get to any Indiana libraries to research old newspapers into these conferences, which is why many of them lack full information. I also have some info on a few redlinked conferences, however there's either minimal info available online, or major gaps in the info I have, so I'll have to do some research with those at some point. Whitewater Valley Conference

As far as I can tell, none of the Fayette County schools you mentioned were ever part of the WVC, nor can I find anything for Oldenburg (the only other school within the original footprint). The earliest standings I can find (ca. 1945) include only those ten schools that are listed, and I can't find any other mention of the conference before 1943. As far as any online findings, I have never seen any of those five ever mentioned in a conference. That of course doesn't mean they weren't in a conference (even the WVC at one point or another), it just means I can't find anything online. Southeast Indiana and its surrounding areas (up north towards your neck of the woods, and out west towards Jackson and Clark counties) are a really hard nut to crack as far as figuring out conference and school info. If you can find anything online that brings any new info to the pages, definitely reference it on the page and throw it on there! Mtndrums (talk) 02:23, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I checked that info against the Winslow basketball site, and those are county tournament wins. I don't think Pike County ever had a formal county league, since they only had four schools available when conference were most likely being formed (Petersburg was in the pocket, being the largest school by far). Just to keep you updated, I did find out some info on the origins of the WVC, after doing some searching on the Whitewater Township HS (Franklin Co.) Facebook page. The conference started in 1940 with Alquina, Brookville, Brownsville, College Corner, Harrisburg, Kitchel, Liberty, and Springfield Twp. Laurel and Whitewater Twp joined the next year. Those changes have been updated, though there is debate about Milton and Whitewater-Webster joining, as well as if Liberty stayed on while playing in the TEC. I'm not sure if those are just jumbled memories or if there's legitimate discern on those. Mtndrums (talk) 21:37, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like that the two schools were called the combo of both cities, the town losing their school was the first listed. This and this are a couple of examples. You are correct with WW-FC being the Bearcats, I'd imagine they kept the FC school colors, but of course, I could be wrong. W-W kept Williamsburg's team name, so I'd guess they'd also keep the colors. Milton and Cambridge City became Lincoln, using CC's blue and Milton's gold and an entirely new nickname.
Thanks for the WW-FC colors. I've done a Google search and turning up with plenty of references to the school being known as Webster-Williamsburg, even on the Northeastern Schools website, so I think for now it's probably best to stick with that for time being. Aces or Purple Aces

Newspapers will often use unofficial nicknames (often times, these ended up being adopted as the official nicknames in the early days) or spice up the actual nickname, but we more or less try to stick with the official name from the ISSA database. As best as I can tell from this picture (http://www.jddedman.com/stendal%20aces%201938%201939.htm), their other color would have been white (a dingy white though, these kids didn't even have a gym to practice in). I'd guess a lot of these tiny schools couldn't afford to throw in a third color. Shoot, my old HS (Rising Sun) still rarely uses their third color (yellow) in their unis. New Page

I finally got back to Indiana and did some research, so I was able to build the Laughery Valley Conference page, as well as fix up the SEIC page. Turns out my alma mater didn't stay in the SEIC (if they were there in the first place), they went to the LVC before the exodus to start the ORVC. I also tried looking for the southern Tri-County Conference (Ripley, Jefferson, and Jennings counties), but to no avail. The only solid lead I have is Cross Plains moving from the LVC to the TCC before 1961. Guess I'll have to hit the Versailles library at some point! Mtndrums (talk) 06:46, 7 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have a feeling that the Brownstown Central hoops page (here) may be a better place to look, maybe trying to hit up their webmaster could get something. I'd imagine Medora's AD is too busy trying to keep things together there, considering how close the school is to being wiped out of existence. Yearbooks are a crapshoot, sometimes they'll have some great info in there, other times you're lucky to just get a schedule. Newspapers can also be like that, it depends how meticulous on those things the local sports writer is (L'burgs writer back then was very aloof to that, I'm kinda shocked I got that info at all looking at later years. They didn't even have a single article about the ORVC being formed downriver. On the plus side, since you provided the TEC champions pages, I went ahead and changed the champions section for the page. Instead of having just a couple of sports listed, I switched it to a Pocket Athletic Conference-style table and made pages that list all the sports (split up by season). Indiana County Athletic Conference pages and other topics

After taking a little time off after hitting walls doing research on Ohio conferences, I've been going back in and doing more research on Indiana conferences, and have actually made some payoffs. I've pieced together a lot more material on the Indiana County Athletic Conferences page, as well as a few other pages (including a few pages where county conferences directly led to other leagues, like the TVAC page). I still have plenty of gaps (the Kankakee Valley Conference is still being a pain to piece together), but I think there's enough new info now on the net to make some more headway. For Wingate, the lists I have all have them as blue and gold, and for good measure, I checked the Indiana Basketball Heritage Project, and they have their banner as blue and gold, so I think that's a pretty safe bet on those colors. As far as listing championships, I'm all for it, if you want to add those. I'd copy a template from a page that has a table (ie: the ORVC page, clear it out except for one line, clear the data, make a line for each school that participated, then add the championships you can find. Just be sure to make a note at the bottom for the years you can't find a champion and say that those years are unverified.
Putting a page for defunct independent schools would be interesting, but the big problem is the page that had all the former IHSAA tournament teams isn't online anymore, which is a huge blow. There's lists with most of these teams, but the website had much more data on teams than can be found. I may try to scour an old hard drive I have to see if any of the old data I had can be salvaged. I've been able to add a few more county conferences, and I've started to work on a list of independent schools as well (I'm also keeping everything on my email so I don't have to keep making these lists).
