Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Tinos 301.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 15:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded

Thanks for uploading Image:Tinos 319.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Tinos 301.JPG. The copy called Image:Tinos 301.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Unspecified source for Image:Buddha1234.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Buddha1234.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:06, 8 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 17:06, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work! Looks like it took a lot of effort. Looks to me well done and thanks for additionally taking the time for adding it to many, many pertinent pages. Hello, can you take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_breese and put in your vote to keep or delete, I am rather outnumbered by some non-spiritual bullies, could use someone who has a co-operative energy to look into the matter on a spiritual teacher article. Also please look into another article that was deleted that has been there for years at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_metaphysical_sciences but was deleted by a user as soon as I linked to it. Template:Buddhism topics

As it is in the discussion, this template should be synthetised. I wasn't aware that someone was undoing every and each change I made. I don't intend to start a "edition war", so I will just ask, why keep so many links that are accesible from the main articles? I will delete just List of Buddhists for now, because it's 3 times on the same index (have you seen an index with 3 links to the same page?!)--Esteban.barahona (talk) 17:34, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Silistra CoA.gif

Thank you for uploading File:Silistra CoA.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 15:00, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of List of villages in Bulgaria

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of villages in Bulgaria, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Way to extensive Would (if complete) consit of tens of thousands of entries - This is what categories are for.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free media (File:Dimitrovgrad CoA.gif)

Thanks for uploading File:Dimitrovgrad CoA.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:54, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Impressive. Most impressive.
A little bird told me about your work, and I just had to come and see.
I did some outline wikification to it, like breaking the pipes into annotations, removing links from headings, breaking long sections up into subsections, adding main links, removing the navigation templates (because they were entirely redundant and therefore detracting), etc.
It wore me out!
By the way, the practices section still needs to be broken up into subsections. Have a look at the doctrines section, and fix anything I messed up. You definitely know the subject better than I do.
Keep up the excellent work. You've filled a blatant gap in the in religion branch of the Outline of Knowledge. Thank you.
By the way, if you enjoy the broad spectrum of human knowledge, please consider joining WP:WPOOK. We're in the process of outlining all knowledge (and by default, all of Wikipedia!).
You are cordially invited to join the team.

AfD nomination of List of animals

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is List of animals. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of animals (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:09, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 02:54, 17 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Stefan

Thank you for doing such an incredible job on the Outline of Buddhism. You are by far one of the most experienced outline editors we have. (I'm pretty sure the Outline of Buddhism is the most extensive outline on Wikipedia).

I noticed you've been around, and I've been wondering... Would you mind taking a look at the outlines pertaining to the countries and regions you are familiar with? Just to see if you notice anything missing or out of place.

By the way, which countries have the highest Buddhist population? And which ones do Buddhism have the most influence on their cultures? Do their outlines reflect that?

I look forward to your reply. The Transhumanist 04:56, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Transhumanist.
I took a look at the Outline of Bulgaria and Outline of Greece, and made a few changes to the former.
As regards your second question, please take a look at the Buddhism by country article. Their outlines don't go into detail about Buddhism.
Kind regards, eu.stefan (talk) 15:42, 15 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Outlines just survived a major battle

In an effort to delete/deprecate all outlines, an attempt was made to delete the main list of outlines, which is part of the Wikipedia contents system.

See the archived discussion at: Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Portal:Contents/Outlines.

I couldn't tell you about it due to WP:CANVASS.

There was another battle just 3 months ago (in September) over the links to that very same page. See Portal talk:Contents#Proposal to restore Outlines entry and keep "Outlines" on this portal's menu templates.

Efforts to delete components of the outline system are usually announced at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Outline of Knowledge, and so you may wish to watchlist that page.

Additionally, you may wish to watchlist the major support pages to outlines, to maintain a bird's eye view on the system:

Sectarian edits

Why do you keep making sectarian edits? Nirvana is not the goal for Mahayana.VictoriaGraysonTalk 20:12, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Dear friend, Nirvana is the goal of all Buddhist traditions. The Arahants and the Buddhas attain the same Nirvana. The goal of Mahayana is Buddhahood, and Buddhahood is Nirvana.
See Basic points unitfying Theravada and Mahayana. Number 5 of that list is the Four Noble Truths. Truth number 3, as you must surely know, is Nirvana, and truth number 4 is the Noble Eightfold Path. So both Nirvana and the Path are found in Mahayana, because Mahayana accepts the four noble truths.
Furthershore's way of putting it, by introducing the respective types of Nirvana in the second paragraph of the lead is better than both mine and yours, so I will revert it to his/her edit. Please don't remove the Noble Eightfold Path -- you know that Mahayana has it too.
Wishing you all the best,
eu.stefan (talk) 21:03, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Mahayana path is the 10 Bhumis, not Eightfold path. See these sources which contrast Eightfold path with Mahayana path:
Hi Victoria, thank you for the links. Are you happy to leave the Buddhism lead as it is? I think Furthershore made a good job at separating Theravada and Mahayana goals in the second paragraph, rather than stating a unified goal for all of Buddhism. Metta, eu.stefan (talk) 11:22, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Buddhism/demographics

You added "In recent decades, Buddhism has been one of the fastest growing religions in the West."[1][2] Sorry, I have reverted this edit for several reasons: The WP:LEAD is a summary of the whole article; the growth of Buddhism in the West was not mentioned in the body of text. I checked the Pew source and could not find such a statement (please give the page no, if they say so) and I think that the Asian Tribune is a dubious source for this statement. "Articles should be based on reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. (...) When available, academic and peer-reviewed publications, scholarly monographs, and textbooks are usually the most reliable sources." (WP:RS) Johnson, Todd M.; Grim, Brian J. (2013). The World's Religions in Figures: An Introduction to International Religious Demography (PDF). Hoboken, NJ: Wiley-Blackwell. pp. 34–36. Retrieved 2 September 2013. is an example of a reliable academic source that mentions a "shift to the west" (1910-2010, p.36). Best regards JimRenge (talk) 12:29, 6 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Main practices of Buddhism

What you list are not the main practices of Buddhism. The main practices of Buddhism are Samatha, Vipassanā, Bodhicitta, Generation stage and Completion stage.VictoriaGraysonTalk 19:35, 3 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Victoria, Thank you for trying to make Wikipedia better -- I appreciate your efforts. However, I think we have to be inclusive of all Buddhist traditions when we speak of Buddhism in general. Samatha and Vipassanā are found in Theravada, but Bodhicitta, Generation stage, and Completion stage are not. Whereas the practices listed in the last paragraph of the lead are valid for all Buddhist traditions I would presume. Again, thank you for your wholesome intentions to improve the Buddhism article. Notice

The file File:Stephen Karakashev.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Personal file, no foreseeable encyclopedic use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into Outline of web design and web development. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:59, 25 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the image you want deleted

The image in question is uploaded to Commons, rather than Wikipedia, so it can't be deleted through Wikipedia proper. You would have to make the request on Commons, after which it would be deleted on Wikipedia by extension. Vaticidalprophet (talk) 06:01, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
