Greetings Eigenclass and thanks for the message you left on my talk page. The points you raise are perfectly valid but there there doesn’t seem to be a way round the referencing of the content of films, TV programmes, song lyrics etc. (or if there is, I haven’t found it yet). I have been in the same situation many times, and have just had to leave it out. A similar thing happens when articles mention things that you have actually participated in, or people that you actually know, and you know that what the article states is incorrect but cannot do anything about it because there are no references available. Frustrating, obviously, but that’s the way things are done round here, and despite the occasional victim in the name of truth, it does help to keep nonsense and worse stuff out.
Re. the content you specifically mention, on seeing the documentary many years ago, I too remember being shocked by the frivolous behaviour of the team. But I take it in the context of lack of awareness of society in general in those days in comparison to the behaviour expected of people working in that field these days.
I wish I could be more constructive. Re. your “compromise”, the only thing that occurs to me is that you try to find some sort of reference and return the information to the article.
