Speedy deletion nomination of Headrot

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Headrot requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Whispering 02:44, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey speedy deletion did i tell you, look down! GO FUCK YOURSELVES

COI and sourcing

Your a complete moron first of all I never said entire genre of that particular music, so don't put words down that were never said, try looking elsewhere its all over the net from reliable sources!

Hey, in the end I deleted the article for several reasons.

First, although you claim that this band shaped an entire genre of music, I can't find anything to actually back that up. Claiming that it influenced notable bands is only good if you can back that up with reliable sourcing. By that I mean that the band has been covered in sources that are independent of yourself and are considered to be reliable. For example, if Dread Central or Rue Morgue covered your band or your music in depth. WP:TRIVIAL mentions aren't enough to give notability and database listings aren't considered to be sources that can give notability either. The problem with saying that you are listed at the Encyclopaedia Metallum is that this is just a routine database type listing as far as Wikipedia is concerned. It shows that the band existed and exists, but it doesn't give notability in and of itself. Existing it not notability. The other problem I saw was that the article had some neutrality issues. At best it came across like a fan page. At worst it sounded a little promotional. Phrases that stuck out were ones like this: Formed In: 1989 From, Horror, Torment, Misery, Gore, and Death!" This is fine for a fan page or for your own webpage, but this isn't reflective of the encyclopedic tone we require on Wikipedia. Even if sources were present, the entire article would have to be nuked and completely re-written to be kept.

On a side note I have to warn you against writing about yourself. Having a conflict of interest doesn't mean that you can't edit, just that it's heavily discouraged. The reasons behind this are many, but it's mostly because people with a COI tend to lean more towards writing content that is more flattering towards themselves, not to mention that there is also a feeling of WP:OWNERSHIP. There's also the potential that you might see more notability than there actually might be. The problem with passing WP:BAND is that it's very, very difficult to do. You can claim that you pass a certain aspect of it, but it all comes down to proving it with reliable sources. I know that niche genre music such as death metal often received little to no coverage in places that would show up on the internet, if they got it at all, but the problem is that we still need coverage to show notability.
