Need your help

You most likely do not know me, but I've done some work on the "Low Germanic languages" article and I've come up with a sentence which accentuates the diffences between high and low Germanic languages more so than the previous on.Problem is, I can only give an English,High German, Dutch and Afrikaanse translation. According to your userbox you speak near fluent Platt/Low Saxon.And according to that category, you're the one of the few registered wikipedian to be fluent in Platt as well.

Could you help me out and translate the following sentence?

das Kamener Kreuz ist bei weitem nicht das zweitstärkst befahrene Kreuz in Deutschland und schon gar nicht in Europa. die stärkstbefahrenen Kreuze Deutschlands (Jahr 2000):

Given Gainas' importance to that year and the Byzantine Empire it seems to me he should have an article. That there is little info available on Gainas makes it rather difficult to expand the article, no? Railway stations of Budapest

Hi,

I've just seen that a few days ago you moved Eastern Railway Station (Budapest) to Budapest keleti pályaudvar (and did the same with the other two railway stations of the city). I don't think this was a good idea, for several reasons:

1. English Wikipedia has a policy of using the English names whenever it's possible (Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English). An average reader, when looking at the article title, won't know what's this article about, unless they open it and read it. The word pályaudvar will be totally unintelligible for the majority of them.
2. You wrote (in the edi summary of the Keleti station) that this was to keep in line with a convention of using original names, but glancing at a few randomly chosen railway station article from non-English-speaking countries it seems that this is not a convention, some of them use English names, some of them don't. (Also, you don't seem consistent since you didn't move the articles of the other Hungarian stations.)
3. "Budapest keleti pályaudvar" is incorrect in Hungarian. The city name itself is never a part of the name of railway stations, unless it's the only station of the city. (It's incorrect grammatically too.)

Can we please move back these three articles to their previous names?

Actually those sites mention it as "Budapest – Keleti pályaudvar", not "Budapest keleti pályaudvar", something has to be between the city and the station name, either a comma or a –, and Keleti has to be written with a capital K. Also, these sites are travel planning sites if I understand them well, and so of course they have to list the city's name too, but in Hungary it's simply called Keleti pályaudvar.

I still think they should be moved back to the names like Eastern Railway Station, or at least Keleti Railway Station (if I remember correctly this is what we can hear on Intercity trains when they greet the passengers in three languages including English). The current names are too confusing for non-Hungarians. We generally translate all that's translatable ("street" instead of "utca", "road" instead of "út", "square" instead of "tér") so that there won't be an abundance of foreign words to confuse the English-speaking target audience of this Wikipedia. – Alensha ^talk 20:32, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: Trains WikiProject and railway station importance

In rating articles, I usually go with what I call the "culturally or historically significant" rule of thumb with regards to rail transport technology and history worldwide. I've tried to put this idea into words on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Trains/Assessment page (see the Importance scale section) and so far haven't seen any dissenting opinions on the guidelines specified there. Generally, I look for notability statements (such as superlatives [first, largest, busiest, etc.], whether the structure is a listed building or equivalent status, notable historic events that occurred there, etc.) in the lead section and combine that information with my own experience in researching rail transport topics. There's more on subject notability in the Trains WikiProject MOS (another collection of guidelines where I have yet to see any major dissenting opinions). If I don't see any notability statements like these in the lead, then I usually examine my own familiarity with the subject and how important the topic seems to me in an understanding of rail transport history and technology.

I don't claim to be the Trains WikiProject Article Ratings Guru, I'm just the guy who's been doing a lot of them, and if there are any specific ratings that should be changed, you don't need my permission to be bold and make the update. Slambo (Speak) 14:02, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, sorry, Ich hab dein Bild wieder herausgenommen. Erstens sieht man viel weniger von der Maschine als auf dem Bild vorher, zweitens sieht man ausgerechnet das "Logo" im Adler bei deinem Foto überdeutlich, bei dem ich mir nicht sicher bin, ob man es so zeigen darf. Auf meinen Fotos ist das Logo entweder abgedeckt oder (links unten) so klein, dass man es nicht sehen kann. Außerdem hattest Du die Bildbeschreibung gar nicht angepasst. WikiProject Germany

I noticed you are going through the articles I had tagged giving them importance rating. I did not do that at the time as I was unsure about it back then. Since then we discussed some of the ratings and came up with the Mid rating for cities smaller than 100K. I am still unsure about other bodies like municalities or districts, but I got a few hundred cities still to tag. Agathoclea 20:42, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

I just rechecked Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Germany/Archive_2#General_Importance and we did not specify a lower limit for cities, but it might be worth bringing up again. Germany tagging

Thank you for your help with the Germany quality and importance assessments! If you have good ideas how to define "importance" / "relevance" in a way that is easy to write down, please help fix what I wrote at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Germany/Assessment#Importance_assessment. The current text is probably not very useful yet for people who want to start tagging and (b) does not accurately describe current practice, which is that I have more or less decided what I call "Top importance", then set an arbitrary threshold for High-importance cities, and tagged non-city articles based on how I feel about them. That is a terribly unscientific process, but I am not sure whether a good process is even possible for a topic the size of all of Germany. I just hope my ratings are not off by more than one level, and that should be good enough. The quality ratings are much more important anyway. Thanks again, and happy tagging! Rating Altlußheim and Angelbachtal

Hi, thanks for rating the two articles Altlußheim and Angelbachtal. I had a quick question though. Why did you tag Angelbachtal as unreferenced and Altlußheim as not lacking in references? I do not disagree with your choices necessarily, but I do not see a qualitative difference between the two articles. Both were translated (somewhat freely) from the German Wikipedia, but those article did not contain any references either. I would have expected that Altlußheim be marked as unreferenced as well. Rating of smaller towns, importance scale

I noticed you rating a number of different towns in the past week or so. I am puzzled why you rate the towns as low importance. The importance scale for Germany projects states that "smaller towns" should be rated as Mid, not Low.imars 17:22, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
