Welcome to Wikipedia, I hope you enjoy making constructive edits. You might like to consider that the Adam picture you removed is one of the world's most famous paintings and would not irritate anyone. :) Abtract 15:16, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, As you know Adam is the first prophet of Islam. So Adam and Eve both are very respectable among muslims. Publishing paintings in which they are shown without any clothes is blasphamous and hurts all muslims. As per wikipedia policy we should respect everyone's beliefs and shouldn't hurt anyone. So i recommend to remove this painting. DJ 11:51, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reasoned response but I don't agree with your conclusion. I'm sure that no wp editor wants to offend or hurt anyone but wp is an encycopedia and as such it reports in words, pictures and occasional sound/video clips what others have already published or said or produced in order to give a reasonably complete, and neutral, outline of a subject/topic. WP does not publish its own opinions, it reflects those of others; it does not add pictures to offend one group but to add to the understanding of the reader. There is much in wp that would offend particular groups of people in a different context, but should offend no-one in an encyclopedic context. For instance there is an article Fuck which is a word that I find highly offensive when used in conversation but I fully understand why there needs to be such an article in an encyclopedia because it is a part of our modern culture (like it or not). There is also an article Nigger which I am confident most black people, and indeed all straight-thinking people, would find offensive in conversation but would fully accept the need for it as an article. I could go on Abortion, Holocaust denial are two others that spring to mind, and I am guessing that you are not very keen on the article Criticism of Islam but, since all religions have their critics, it is important to reflect these views in as academic manner as possible in wp. I hope this helps you to understand why imho the picture of Adam (clothed or unclothed) should stay, it is afterall a world famous painting and frankly even the nudity is a little tame by modern standards. Good luck in your quest for enlightenment. Abtract 13:10, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
