How come all the work I just did on the YMCA page disappeared? Why did you revert it back to the beginning? All of the info is legit. Some of the old version info is not. Help - I'm new to Wiki... lcc234

Wrap Advertising

I see large comapanies listed on many, many pages. I do not see why a small company cannot post information, which is properly verified. It's maddening enough that they already have every advantage in the world.

Please put back the Azure info.

The links are for the benefit of fans who want to go into it.

hello discospinster, you delated my post about greygoose vodka. i would like to know why. thanks. Manzanita

thank you discopsinser for your explanation. i am quite new to wikipedia. i took your point of view into account and just added the link to the new york article on the grey goose vodka post. is it right? this article is really interesting, and i think for people interested in greygoose vodka, they might be happy to read more about it. what do you think? thanks for your answer, Anne.

ps: by the way. if i say : vodka has never been part of the french culture. isn't it neutral?

ok thank you discopspinser, i understand better. i decided just to add the link then, people can therefore make their own mind. and yes, by the way, vodka is not part of french culture. greygoose, invented in 1997, is the first french vodka. but still really good if you tried it. (oups..biased point of view..;-)) ) but interesting story more than anything. have a nice day!

hi Discopspinser, question: do you know if we can know how many people come to see one page? kind of tracking that would be transparent to everyone? thanks Manzanita.

hi Discospinser, thanks for your help! Manzanita

How dare you recommend the Watford Dragons page for deletion!?

I see you reverted the prod removal on Wikible. Please don't do that. Prod is only for uncontroversial deletions, and removing the notice is the correct way of objecting to the deletion. Please see Wikipedia:Proposed deletion#What this process is NOT for. NickelShoe 04:46, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

My rationale can be found on your talk page. ... discospinster 17:32, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Yeah. Don't. Just because the person doesn't have an account doesn't mean they don't object to the deletion. Assume they object unless it's obvious, like they removed the prod to insert a speedy, or they simply blanked the page. NickelShoe 17:35, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
A little summary goes a long way. ... discospinster 17:43, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
I know, but newbies don't usually understand that, and they're usually the ones whose articles are getting prodded. (I know they don't own the article, but they usually don't understand that.) A lot of newcomers find the proposal intimidating enough as it is, so we need it to be fairly easy to object. Anyway, I know you did it in good faith and everything. I noticed that you tagged the page Black Flag Army Productions for speedy deletion with the reason "advertisement for non-notable company". However, "advertisement for non-notable company" is not currently one of our criteria for speedy deletion, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag. You can use one of our other deletion processes, proposed deletion or articles for deletion if you still want the article to be deleted. Thanks! Stifle 20:56, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Your recent edit to Local churches was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept my humble creator's apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. My revision as of 14:22, 9 May 2006 to the article Local churches was to reinstate information that was blanked. See here. ... discospinster
Yeah, it was the repetition that triggered the bot, one of those rare oddball legit cases that matches it, it's going to be fun to try to write a workaround, how about I just whitelist you :) -- Tawker 04:27, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

Durham

Hi, you're probably waaaaay ahead of me, but we're clearly both trying to simultaneously revert edits to Durham by some idiot anonymous user, so I've stopped, so that we don't trip over each other - but I'm fairly sure Dominic Beeston and John Perrie are also non-existant additions by the little clown. Good. I understand now and see that we're on the same side.
I looked at your contributions and see that you do a lot of reverting. Thanks for the help. IMHO you could be leaving more talk page warnings. I don't recall if popups, which you use, has links to facilitate that or not. You might look at the toolbox I wrote to make it quick and easy to leave an appropriate message. It's frustrating to want to block a deserving vandal who has been reverted a dozen times but has never been asked to stop. --Kbh3rdtalk 17:02, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

In your edit of FM you list his parents as Indian Parsi but later on, in the bottom, leave him labelled as Iranian/Persian. Could you change these to Indian Parsi as well, as THIS was his idenitity, as opposed to Iranian. -Afghan Historian 19:30, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:17, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Message for the user: Modifications on virtualization topics

I'd like to understand with which criteria you decided to remove virtualization.info links from several virtualization topics, while maintaining other external links.

virtualization.info exists since 2003, when virtualization was not even mentionend on Wikipedia and was known by nobody.

"What is virtualization" and the "Virtualization Industry Roadmap" are not mere advertising or external links, but concrete value-added contents, appreciated in the whole niche.

Why same topics from ZDnet or KernelLinux are still there? They have same amount of advertising on landing pages and have less details.

Why you should decide which content is better to be linked as external?

Please provide an explaination.

Thanks

(Copied on your talk page) These links were taken off the articles because they weren't directly related to the subject. Most of the articles were about specific brands of virtualization technology, so the external links were specific as well. However, in the general article Virtual machine, the link to the blog is relevant. ... discospinster 12:36, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

No Ordinary Love was released in 1992 - not 1999. It was part of the Love Deluxe album also released in 1992. If you need confirmation of these facts, go to Sade's Official Site. re: THANK YOU

Thank you for reverting disputes to "talk" / "discussion" page where these unfactual remarks interferes with the artice regaring to the musical contributions and respective groups Mr. Art Loria has taken part in. It keeps the article page clean and all rightfull opinions should be revertited to a talk forum page. Thank you..'ALSO'BeatleWill has a habit of creating his own biased opinions into "facts" that he takes to a sujects main page and then recreates or stirs up mized information that is not sourced and runins the integrity of the article and Wikipedia as a whole.. He should take these opinions, which he has every right to and place them in the proper talk / discussion page - where it belongs. It's a shame that a subject article should be tampered with and thanks to the moderators for reverting all disputes to their proper forum.

re: Please Do Something!!!!

68.194.159.223 is violating and vandlizing pages and subject matrial with his own opinions, that lack format and source. It is taking away the standards that I expect, we all do, from WIKIPEDIA - Please look into this action. Thank you

STOP THIS VANDAL - PLEASE

205.188.117.6 "BEATLEWILL" This user has repetedly used a main article page to use it for a forum to rant his "opinions" (not facts) - it has already been reverted to the talk or discussion page where is belongs by a wise monitor/editor. But he refuses to take heed and puts up the same "disputes" and "opinion pieces" on a main subject page. THis is esp. true for the article on ART LORIA where the article shows his contributions to the music industry and is sourced, referenced and cited and properly formated.

Then 205.188.117.6 "BEATLEWILL" will come along and deface the article and rant about his opinions on his particular taste in music. Seems that because Mr. Loria was a "DOO WOP" performer, this vandal who has a more un-flattering for that genre of music, rather would share his opionin of the Beatles instead. BEATLEWILL even calims to be a spokesperson foe the Beatles and offers statements on what Yoko Ono or Psul McCartney would have to say. This is a disgrace! But totally acceptable if placed in the right forum. He has been corrected officially once, warned several times, but his banter continues.

That is is right and opinion of course - we just ask that he not be allowed to deface and disgrace an article main page in doing so. It takes away from the integrity of the music, theartist and WIKIPEDIA. Please follow the history of this user and look into this matter / complaint I have discussd. I'm doing research for a book and this is getting quite annoying. I'm not interested in his opinions of the Beatles, I'm interested in certain Doo Wop artists - it is greatly appriciated.

would you kindly read a page before you revert it?

I know about removing warnings, and if you'd actually read my user page instead of just following your bot's recommendations, you'd notice that the person who had warned me had changed his mind and apologized. Now, will you KINDLY let me go ahead an clear out the clutter on my user page?

RE:vandal

I centanily appriciate your advice on this matter - and yes it is very frustrating. But thank you for your reply.

Could you be more specific? ... discospinster talk 23:33, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Well, I'm not sure I can, pretty much all of his edit summaries contain trolling, then leaving a vandalism warning over a content dispute, that's also pretty trollish, seems like it would be more of a trick to find edits that don't contain trolling.
  • I'm not trying to build an ArbCom case here or anything, just pointing out that the vandalism warning was inappropriate verging on trolling--152.163.100.5 23:36, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Well, I see some minor changes in phrasing and what looks like a disagreement about the content of a Bill Reilly article. Not obviously the work of a "troll". If you want to contest a warning, especially if you're not logged in, it might be easier to leave the warning there and reply to it. Besides, if you're an AOL IP, you probably won't even see it after a while. ... discospinster talk 23:43, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

I reverted it because you put in <nowiki>Insert non-formatted text here</nowiki> [3]. ... discospinster talk 18:19, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
A), I didn't put in nowiki (at least not on purpose, though I may have accidentally) and B)you could have taken out the nowiki and left in the city name if you weren't in such a hurry. Why did you just remove my sentence about Dr. Koop?

?? My wife was on the phone earlier this week with Dr. Koop. She has also worked with people who know him personally and professionally during his time as Chief of Surgery at Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia (which the article doesn't mention - yet). The information I added about his nickname was real and added a little bit of personal interest to the overall article. It's at least as relevant as the "help I've fallen but can't get up" mention... Thanks.
