Ribbon

Hi Denise,

I saw your note to SandyGeorgia. I don't know if she had a bigger purpose in mind, but if you take a look, your addition of the ribbon didn't actually work. All it did was put a blank line in the middle of the first paragraph. I admit that I'm stumped by this behavior: what you did looks to me like it ought to have worked (although it would have been better to put the image in some other place, rather than the middle of the first paragraph).

You might like to add the PANDAS ribbon to List of awareness ribbons. Fair warning: That list is a table, which is a complicated kind of markup. If you can't figure it out, then feel free to paste {{helpme}} on this page followed by an explanation of the problem, or just leave a note for me at User talk:WhatamIdoing. I'll be on and off Wikipedia all day tomorrow. WhatamIdoing (talk) 07:08, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I'm fairly new to Wikipedia. I'll try to figure out how to get it in there. :) I uploaded it to the gallery pages at one point... Wikipedia does not have the most user-friendly posting process.  :/ Denisegrubbs (talk) 14:20, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, posted on the Awareness Ribbon page; thanks!

I'm not sure why it posted where it did either... I was trying to post it on the side; however, I had trouble (obviously) getting it to post correctly or display the ribbon. It seems to be a rather complex process to do so. Denisegrubbs (talk) 14:34, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File:PANDAS awareness - sawtooth edge, white font & larger hands - reduced size copy.jpg
The awareness ribbon promoted by PANDAS patient support groups is green with a sawtooth edge and a picture of two people shaking hands.
Congratulations on figuring out the table. You did everything perfectly there (unlike two different people before you, whose small messes I just cleaned up).
I agree that Wikipedia is complicated—overly complicated sometimes. There are lots of help pages... but sometimes, even finding them is difficult. (That's why people leave those big welcome messages. It's kind of a cheat sheet for finding pages.) If you need help, feel free to ask. There are several different places to ask for help (linked under "Getting help" above), and you can also use the {{helpme}} template to draw someone right to the page you type it on.
On the assumption that you'd like to know how to add images to articles, I've added it to the green ribbon to page. If you edit this page (or section), you'll see the code above my message. The first bit is the (long) file name. The next bit is the code word thumb, which says to draw a box around it and make it the normal size and in the normal place. The third bit tells it that this is an upright (tall) image (just leave that bit out when it's not a tall image). After that comes (almost) anything you like for a caption. It's like a lot of things in life: very easy once you already know how to do it, and impossible to guess if you don't.
Good luck, WhatamIdoing (talk) 04:28, 19 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for the enormous delay in getting back to you on this. My daughter, who has PANDAS, had an extremely severe exacerbation last winter. Following treatment, she is now about 85% recovered. I updated the ribbon, copyrighted it and also have a website now to support research. Unfortunately, I am having trouble finding a way to update the ribbon or link it to the website. Any tips? Thanks again! Denisegrubbs (talk) 22:33, 14 August 2011 (UTC)Denisegrubbs[reply]
