I like your essay on recentism

Your essay makes some good and practical points. Whatever we might want Wikipedia to look like in the long run, telling eager contributors to stifle their enthusiasm doesn't work in the short run. This is a problem I talked about in my 2006 talk at Wikimania, and I think efforts have been made since then to implement some of my suggestions for keeping articles user-friendly when many new editors are trying to contribute at the same time. Ironically, these articles under editing stress are a very public face of Wikipedia, so we have real motivation to try to work collegially with their many editors. betsythedevine (talk) 03:37, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
