Stephen Tompkinson

Hi, I am afraid that your changes to the Stephen Tompkinson article are problematic. I understand that you say that you are his daughter but on the internet anyone can claim anything. I could claim to be his son, for example, and who could disprove me? We need reliable sources on Wikipedia and the word of one contributor is no more reliable than that of another contributor.

Does he have an official website? This basic information - full name, date of birth etc - could be sourced to that if it is published there or if you could arrange for it to be published there. Please note than fan sites are not usually considered reliable either, so it would need to be either his own official site or that of his agent etc.

Please also note that while I doubt anyone would object to you changing the name and d.o.b., if properly sourced, we do have a policy regarding conflicts of interest and it really isn't a good idea for you to edit the article directly if you are related to him. The way round that is to request changes at Talk:Stephen Tompkinson. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 09:24, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Stephen Tompkinson shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

  • Daisy, I hate doing this because it looks like bad faith on my part but you really, really have to abide by our policies and guidelines. Is there no other way you can provide verification of the information other than repeatedly saying "I am his daughter"? I'll give you one specific example of why it matters: ST is divorced, his daughter is a product of that former marriage and who knows what problems may exist as a consequence of the collapse of the marriage and what needling might be going on as a result? Hi - I've noticed there seems to be some conflict going on the Stephen Tompkinson wiki page. I don't know much of how to handle these situations but I've asked someone to forward this case along and see if someone can assist you. Hopefully this goes well. Tduk (talk) 16:06, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
