Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Auditing (Scientology), you may be blocked from editing. -- Cirt (talk) 14:43, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

aiiiiight

ok.

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because your account is being used only for vandalism. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Tim Song (talk) 15:18, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I claim that the reason you have given, that my account is ONLY being used for vandalism, is false, and, therefore, the ban is under false pretenses. I have only been using my accound MOSTLY for vandalism, I have also done minor spelling corrections and engaged in debate as to the questionable physics of the DeLorean in Back To The Future, so, seeing as the reason given to ban me was incorrect, the ban should be lifted post haste.

Decline reason:

Blocks are put in place to protect Wikipedia against vandalism. Since you freely admit that you have been using your account "MOSTLY for vandalism", I don't see any reason to allow you to continue to do so. You haven't demonstrated that you'll do anything except continue to vandalize here, so we need to be protected against you. Accounting4Taste:talk 17:07, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

touché

{{unblock|I wish to apologise to Wikipedia and to the users of Wikipedia, I understand that what I was doing was vandalism, even though I thought that I was doing it as sort of a joke, I understand that people are using wikipedia to gain knowledge into the world and beyond and that any error in information can be detremental to us all as a species. Who knows who will have the next great idea, or the next breakthrough in modern science or such, and having the correct information at their fingertips is vital to provide them with the necessary tools to create a better world for us all. So I would humbly ask for my editing privileges be returned so that I may cease from such petty acts of vandalism and assist in the pursuit of knowledge across the globe and across the world wide web.}}

Having looked at your edits, I have some difficulty in accepting this reversal of attitude at face value. If you were to be unblocked, what articles would you intend to create or edit? --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 20:18, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure, whilst I peruse Wikipedia, gathering information about the world and such, I sometimes come across pieces of information that I know to be incorrect and wish to update them as such, and if required, cite references, I cite as an example : Mirage, where I have changed the distance in the section 'Superior mirage' from 100km to 111.2km, as that is the correct distance of one degree on the surface of the earth and would be thus the distance over the surface of the earth that light rays would have to travel to appear one degree higher on the horizon. Also Human_wave_attack, where I have added the Australian 'victory' at Gallipoli to the list of wars where human wave tactics have been used. So the type of pages I would edit would range widely. I have no plans to create any pages as such. I also may upload pictures relating to topics of articles, if I were to have such pictures in my possession and with the rights to reproduce and distribute them.

But what can you give us to make us think you won't continue to vandalise in the future? If you defaced books you;d borrowed from a library and they banned you, how would you persuade them to allow you to borrow books again and that you won't deface them? Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

I'm going to assume good faith that this user will not continue to vandalise, and has realised that Wikipedia is not the place to have a laugh by doing "funny edits", thus I will unblock them. However, please do understand that if you perform any further vandalism, you will likely be blocked without warning, and this second block would be very unlikely to be undone. --Taelus (Talk) 11:55, 14 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

thankyou very much for unblocking my account, and I will uphold your good faith that I will not use Wikipedia to vandalise again. Although now these are only words, I hope that my actions in this webspace will show that I am true to them.

More vandalism

This is a poor return [1]. Please cease vandalism William M. Connolley (talk) 13:41, 5 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- how is this vandalism? I believe that there are dissenting opinions regarding global warming, and that there is not a consensus amongst all the scientific bodies, therefore the human impact upon the rising temperature of the planet is only a theory, and thus it is only claimed, rather than being a scientific fact. Despite the fact that many people believe that global warming is happening, this does not make it so, as in the past the majority of people have believed all sorts of things, only to be shown to be quite incorrect in their assumptions, such as the flat earth theory, that nature abhors a vacuum and that liquefaction of permanent gases is impossible. Therefore, I would argue that, in light of the limited amount of evidence, the incredibly short time the effect has been observed and many other factors, including the 1,400 year thermal cycle of the planet, global warming being the result of human actions on the earth cannot be proven, only hypothesized upon, meaning that this is only a theory of global warming, as opposed to a scientific constant. What evidence do you or the greater scientific community have to show that this warming is, in fact, being caused in the majority by human action, as opposed to other factors, as I have mentioned above?

You inserted "claimed" thus: Global warming is the claimed increase in the average temperature of Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century. Thus your "claimed" is on the temperature increase itself, about which there is no doubt. As to the sources, the article itself provides them - did you pause to read any of it? William M. Thankyou for the message regarding my photograph, I have taken the necessary steps to rectify the copyright. CybergothiChé (talk) 14:46, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Seems we are stepping on each other's tows - you just undid corrections which took me 20 minutes to do. Let me just redo them, I'll back off, and then you can do whatever you want. --Muhandes (talk) 19:03, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ok, I'm sorry, I just realized that. I was about to fix it, but if you are happy to fix it, please do. again, sorry, I didn't mean to mess up your corrections. CybergothiChé (talk) 19:05, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I redid the changes and I'm backing off. Please leave me a message on my talk page when you want me to come back and correct the rest of the references. I'll spend the time creating templates for citing seasidelights. I hope you'll find the current templates useful {{cite loa}} and {{cite loaidx}} (you probably don't need the latter). --Muhandes (talk) 19:14, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All those lighthouse images

Is there a reason not to upload them directly to the commons? I was just wondering. --Muhandes (talk) 12:25, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, no reason at all. I could upload them to the Commons if you think that would be a better idea. CybergothiChé (talk) 12:31, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Personally I prefer the commons. That way other wikis can use it, and the categories are better there. One can also add a {{commonscat}} to the page. --Muhandes (talk) 13:00, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Cape don.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Cape don.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:06, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou ImageTaggingBot :) I thought I had applied the appropriate copyright, but it seems that I had placed normal brackets (ie: "))") instead if the curly tagging brackets (ie: "}}"). I have since rectified this problem, applying the Australian public domain tag, as this picture of the Cape Don Lighthouse was taken in 1937 and, as such, the copyright on this photograph (in Australia) has expired. Thankyou again, ImageTaggingBot, for all your tireless work in finding untagged images and alerting their uploaders to the insufficient copyright tags upon them. Replaceable fair use File:Crowdy head.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Crowdy head.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Muhandes (talk) 17:26, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. There is already a free image at the commons which I uploaded. Keep the good work :) --Muhandes (talk) 17:28, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Crowdy head.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Crowdy head.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
