External links
It would be of much more benefit to the readers of WIkipedia if you were to add content to articles using the BGS articles as a reference rather than simply adding multiple links. I'm sure your intentions are well meaning but ultimately the repeated addition of links to Wikipedia is unwelcome. --Simple Bob (talk) 13:45, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree that the addition of the links is unwelcome, the BGS is underlinked in en.wiki, in my opinon. So far I see BGS links to specific information relevant to the article. Although it would be more useful to add information to the article and reference it to the BGS. --Kleopatra (talk) 14:25, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
Dear Cvlpennington. I see you are adding external links to many pages, and that above there are comments regarding that. I do share some of the concerns with these editors, in that some of the linking is inappropriate on the pages where they are added. I have left you a welcome template above, but I am going to point you specifically to a couple of our guidelines and policies which are of interest to mass additions of external links:
- The external links guideline - shows what external links are welcome, which to be considered, and which to avoid; I am afraid you trigger some of the points in the avoid area on (quite) some additions.
- One part of 'What Wikipedia is not' - we are not an internet directory and
- Another part of 'What Wikipedia is not' - not a repository;
- Our conflict of interest guideline - I presume you are involved in the site - which does not forbid you to edit in the subject, but I do ask you to show care with that.
- and to a lesser extend - you behaviour can be interpreted by some as spamming.
I hope this helps, if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to contact me. --Dirk Beetstra T C 15:17, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
