NZ Jamboree

I have been following your editing and your discussion with KylieTastic after I reverted your first edit. Sorry about that , it was probably a little brutal introduction to editing on Wikipedia. However.....if you assemble what you think ought to be in the article and the sources to back it up, you can always post your material on the article talk page where other editors can review it and add it to the article as they think fit. This avoids any conflict of interest. It might also help to look at a few other Jamboree articles starting with Jamboree to get a better idea of what Wikipedia articles look like. I know about Scouting, New Zealand, and Scouting in New Zealand so would be happy to help if I can. Regards  Velella  Velella Talk   22:55, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank You I was trying to follow The Jamboree page when i was editing it but i didn't understand that me been on the team would cause conflict of interest next time i will place these in the talk page so it can't be viewed as biased even ive found it hard to find information on what jamboree is. all i run into is our promotional stuff on the current jamboree which will be run differently to a lot of the prevous ones in that it not one big site Ive asked for some history and information on jamboree areas as the Scouting Portal has Todo jobs for NZ Jamboree thanks Crazycart00n (talk) 23:20, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It may save you a lot of time and effort if you forget about what the organisers are doing and what is planned. Wikipedia relies on material supported by reliable independent sources and it is very unlikely that such material exists or will exist until after the Jamboree in January. You can't really use material from the Scouting portal, although if it is factual and non-contentious, it's possible that nobody might object. You can add material about involving volunteers and service crews etc. if you can find sources from past Jamborees which talk about these issues. There is really good availability of on-line newspapers archives through the local library service in NZ, so that might be worthwhile checking.  Velella  Velella Talk   23:33, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
