A tag has been placed on Ipo village, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an acceptable page. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this page is not blatant advertising, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You are welcome to edit the page to fix this problem, but please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. As well as removing promotional phrasing, it helps to add factual encyclopaedic information to the page, and add citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the page will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. SwisterTwister talk 05:12, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IPO Village

Hi, thanks for message, you can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~. Several problems

  • The editor who tagged for deletion and I both though that it was promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic.
  • linking to IPO Village in the main text is spammy. There shouldn't be any url links other than in the references and external links
  • Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: provides crowd funding with NASDAQ initial offerings at pre-IPO rates... allows investors to gain returns with companies that have created products or strategies that have proven successful enough to garner investments... boutique... Both have an extensive background in investment banking... Our deal flow is certainly admired throughout the industry... dynamic new offerings... free-trading offering liquidity and a clear exit strategy. There is no investor prejudice involved; everyone is treated equally. Crowd funding with IPO Village levels the playing field. No more IPOs exclusive to the 1%. We have campaigns running on Google Search, Google Plus, Facebook and LinkedIn. Now, because of the evolution of social media and crowd funding, IPO investments at IPO Village are available to the 99%... is unique... Previously, only a select 1% of the population were qualified to invest monies in retail companies... unique... Now, equity based IPO returns allow all investors to receive a return on their investment
  • There was virtually nothing about the company (employees, profits, turnover), it was all about what they are trying to sell.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ipo village requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. DoriTalkContribs 22:04, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted it again, asked on its talk p.

" (The importance is that you have nothing on Wikipedia about IPO crowdfunding at all. It's imperitive to have it in an encyclopedia. This is the second edition and has included in it references, and sources that are not spammy. It is not only talking about IPO Village. The importance is inherent wihting the text. The JOBS Act created a venue for all people to invest. IPO Village has this platform as well. I heartily contest this. Your justification has no foundation. The page was created to explain what IPO's are in relation to crowdfunding, IPO Village was the context, Crowdfunding the background.) "

I replied there:

The article was about the company. There is nothing to indicate the company was important. The only link was to its sponsor's web site. As the article said, the firm is still legally unable to release any specific information. If it should eventually become important to be written about based on more than its press releases, there might be a basis for an article, but see our policies on WP:Conflict of interest and WP:Reliable sources. If it becomes notable, someone else will know it and write the article. Since this cannot conceivably happen until December 2012 at the earliest, I have blocked re-creation of the article for now, but unless you have good sources, do not even try, for it will be deleted.

As for the general topic, this method of funding may become important, but as the article itself says, nobody is using it in public because the regulations have not yet been issued. When there are article about it providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. , then there can be an article. The article would normally not mention any particular company, and could not be based on a particular company's press releases. As you are involved in that line of business, you would probably know enough to write it once the references appeared, if you can do it in a neutral manner, but you ought to learn about Wikipedia before that. See our general guide, and our policies on WP:Conflict of interest and WP:Reliable sources. DGG ( talk ) 02:17, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Seeing what you previously asked the admin who deleted it the first time, I will add to his comment above that I agree with it completely. I will also add that the other article you mention has good references, and does not engage in the promotional effort to explain why the overall subject is important, nor does it advertise the future services of the firm. Please do not use Wikipedia to promote businesses. Wikipedia is not the "Yellow Pages". If you want to list a company for potential customers to find, please consider alternative outlets. Thank you. DGG ( talk ) 04:11, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you are absolutely determined to start an article, please use the articles for creation program. However, as mentioned, you need to establish notability and a neutral point of view. If you need additional help, contact DGG, Jimfbleak or me. SwisterTwister talk 17:09, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
