Enoch Round

Hi there — I've just been reviewing the Enoch Round article you created, especially looking at the references. I've already commented on the extensive use of offline sources on the article talk page so won't repeat that here, but just wanted to say that the ref tag comes after punctuation, and there should be no space before the tag, ie. "...end of sentence.<ref>" rather than "...end of sentence <ref>." If you would like to go back and correct the citations, that would be helpful. :)

On a separate subject, I've also placed the COI (conflict of interest) tag on the article, as I'm guessing you're somehow related to Enoch Round, given the same surname — am I right? If so, you may want to familiarise yourself with the rules regarding COI editing, and at the very least declare your interest so there's no misunderstandings.

Hope this helps, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:17, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Some responses to your points.

I'm commenting below each. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:09, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • The UK Census records are available online up to 1911 and provide important information about family members and, more importantly, profession and place of residence.
Can you provide links to the online content in the citations?

Yes, I've done that Christine Round (talk) 14:05, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • There are two references to other Wikipedia articles. I would add more but the whole area of Brass Bands and the Wright and Round connection has not been written about on Wikipedia yet. This article on Enoch Round begins to rectify this.
I don't think referencing WP articles is necessary, that can just be handled with internal 'wikilinks' (which the article is missing).
  • I have edited the punctuation around references
Great, thank you. :)
  • I have added headings.
Excellent.
  • The detail is of interest to those researching the history of Brass Bands in the UK.
Okay, fair. Just bear in mind that most readers will be what you would call 'general audience'.
  • I think the citations are sufficient to back up the history given.
There should really be a verifiable citation for each non-obvious claim (ie. not 'sky is blue' etc.) made. Therefore the number of citations needed isn't a fixed number, but rather depends on the contents of the article.

Hi, I am trying to work out where to put the COI information but the Wikipedia info is not very clear. I will add when I understand where to put it. Christine Round (talk) 12:09, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Take a look at this, if you haven't yet, esp. the 1st option. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 13:09, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - but does the COI comment go on the article or on my talk page? I'm not clear Christine Round (talk) 14:05, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Enoch Round moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Enoch Round, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. Please take to heart the suggestions on the article talk page. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
