Copy vio?

Don't want to be a downer, but isn't writing down the whole lyrics of a song a copy vio? I like the idea, but we're not meant to put song lyrics on wikipedia... Grr, and why is there nothing I'm well versed in? ;) Spawn Man (talk) 21:54, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I was musing on that. I could argue that it is in userspace rather than WP itself per se, or that as it is all linked it is 'altered' and not merely a reproduction of lyrics. If the worst cam to the worst I could make it all a single column list I guess. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 02:56, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

Maybe you could link the "always" in the lyrics to eternity. Rufous-crowned Sparrow (talk) 02:33, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Haha - like the idea...cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 02:54, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An open letter to Cas

Because of you I had Billy Joel in my head all day yesterday. I urge you to consider what songs-stuck-in-heads can do to people. Marskell (talk) 13:26, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Try having children insist on it being played 16 times in a row on a 3 hour road-trip....cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 13:37, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Kids, eh? I first listened to Billy Joel with my mom when I was a kid, and it's a fond thought—I'm sure you'll remember those 16 times as a highlight, eventually. Marskell (talk) 18:52, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And yet...

I commend Señor Liber for creating this initiative. Yet Category:Start-Class Vital articles contains a galling 129 entries. The barnstar is some help, but any ideas on encouraging greater collaboration and interest in these? Skomorokh 23:49, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yikes...what a cat....got an idea....Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 23:58, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just bought floor seats for the March 7 Billy Joel/Elton John concert, and am inspired to bring Billy Joel to FA. I'm sure in the spring, I'll go nuts on bringing more to FA. Any help would be awesome. I plan to start Monday. لennavecia 19:59, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't conscionably contribute to that particular article on aesthetic grounds, but count me in for the 2009 drive. Skomorokh 03:17, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I always thought that Billy and Elton were transatlantic analogues of each other WRT style and volume of music (though very different on a more esoteric level)..Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 04:04, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was shocked to find that the advertisement of this concert was not a hoax. Furthering that shock was the fact that they have been touring together on and off for 14 years and this is the first I've heard about it. I have not yet had the pleasure of seeing Elton John perform live, but I did attend a Billy Joel concert in 1999, and I must say it was the most brilliant display of talent I've seen expressed in concert form, and I've been to many such displays. With a diverse appreciation for music, I look forward to, hopefully this decade, finding out which concert is more awesome between Tool and Billy Joel & Elton John. However, news on Tool's next album are shady and, unfortunately, I'm not sure anything can be expected until 11 or later. That said, I'll be around Monday with my Joel albums spinning in the background and my eyes on his biography... and I'll be real, as I'm giving the impression that I'm either older or way more awesome than I actually am, by "albums", I mean "CDs". >_> لennavecia 06:12, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hah, I figured that, I use the word "album" more for the body of work in one rather than the black vinyl thingy myself, and hence easily referrble to shiney plastic CDs too with about 45-80 mins of fun-packed music. Never seen Billy Joel - Sydney Oz is good as just about everyone tours here every few years, but the last gig I went to was 95-96 NYE big concert with Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth, Rancid and Foo Fighters and some others. Since then I have hibernated ++++. Still, I have fond memories of my 12 years of concert going, front row at an Iggy Pop gig was possibly the most intense experience I had...gah! here I go again as we have been mentioning concerts on Ceoil's talk page somewhere...Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 12:42, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(←) I went to a Billy Joel concert once, or rather, it was branded as a "Talk with Billy Joel." It was a small venue, only about 700, and the music was quite good. The "talk" was bizarre. Joel told rambling stories that appeared to have no point. Everyone assumed he was drunk. Just goes to show you can't trust people with two first names. Actually wanted to comment on Category:Start-Class Vital articles. I don't believe that a lot of people come to Wikipedia to learn about this thing called a tower that they saw in a picturebook. The so-called vital articles that have remained at start class were primarily misclassified. For some of these, vital was evidently a synonym for rudimentary. I'm not sure FAs on rudimentary topics should be such a high priority, and really Joel's song is a much better list of articles that are actually vital. --JayHenry (talk) 05:06, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, yeah, but there are other largish articles that I think warrant decent articles, things like capitalism and fungus mebbe. I agree the original "vital" list is rather arbitrary and I could never figure out who'd come and look up history for instance. Anyway, ssshhhh, as I have asked L'Aquatique to do another cool image/award thingey (good thing about awards is that one can ignore all rules and be creative with them hehehhehe. Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 05:29, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
When I saw Joel it was at the LJVM Coliseum, and a few thousand people, but he did talk a lot, though no drunk ramblings, hahaha. He gave the back story to a lot of his songs, and threw in some humor. Quite entertaining. Of course, I was most impressed by his piano playing. لennavecia 13:07, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We-ell, one would hope that his piano playing was up to par...Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 13:09, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

South Pacific

Currently, the link from South Pacific is the disambiguation page South Pacific. Is there a more specific target? --Patar knight - chat/contributions 16:43, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yikes! Will check it out. Casliber (talk · contribs) 20:05, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yep - should be to South Pacific (musical), and changed accordingly. Casliber (talk · contribs) 20:07, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent changes

I think, surely, Billy was not referring to the band U2, nor did he at any point refer to Barbie's boyfriend. These seem like inapplicable changes. Additionally, are we unsure of which Harry Truman was being referred to? I thought it was clear. Lara 15:48, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think Ceranthor is having a bit of fun. Note that I made a link to the game of Go somewhere in it as well. Casliber (talk · contribs) 20:29, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
