Marcus Trescothick

Hi,

Thanks for your comments on the Trescothick FAC. They have been addressed, so would you be kind enough to take a look at the FAC once more? If you stick with your weak oppose, that is fine, but perhaps you would just outline why. Also, a lot of your points were regarding changes made by User:!! while participating at the FAC, and I have reverted many of these.

Many thanks,

MDCollins (talk) 11:29, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your vote

Thank you for participating in my RfA, which passed with a vote of (53/0/1).

As a token of my appreciation, please accept this bowl of tzatziki.

I feel honored to be trusted by so many of you. Wikipedia is such a large community, that my acceptance in the face of such large numbers truly is humbling. I will use my new tools to continue the tasks for which you entrusted them to me.

C'mon!

I'm keen to get vampire off so we can start on something new - maybe cheetah since there's a $50 reward on it...? $25 for you, $25 for me? Muahahaha! I think once we've passed the hurdle of vampire, things are gonna get a lot easier. We just happened to pick the hardest article ever first off. I think we need to be ruthless and just cut out what ever is too stubby to include, what sounds like OR or unnotable and whatever we can't find references for. I just want it gone so we can start on something else... Whatdoya say? Back to work? I've looked over the article and all that's left is text with the problems I just mentioned, which could easily be fixed by deletion. Anyway, I'm sore from playing golf today. I'm absolutely rubbish at it, but it was fun. Cheers Cas, Spawn Man (talk) 07:32, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Aw, just realised that the bounty board is for donations to Wikimedia. I want cash dammit! For me! ;) Hmm, you might find this interesting if you did indeed want cash etc, although the cash requests aren't involving very good articles (Although Atlantis might be interesting). Barn Swallow

thanks for tips, which I've done - finding refs for the swallow ssp is interesting, but finding the authors originally was worse (ITIS only has Linnaeus)! I'm doing some winter birding for a few days, but when I return I'll fix anything else that comes up. Jimfbleak (talk) 15:56, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Orson K. Miller, Jr.

A tag has been placed on Orson K. Miller, Jr. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Need your opinion

Hey sir. I know you've made some edits over at Psychiatry and needed your opinion with something. An editor has expressed interest in reintroducing a controversy section into the article. I would really appreciate it if you could let me know your thoughts as to whether it should or shouldn't be included as the article is written now. Let me know at Talk:Psychiatry#Should we reintroduce "Controversy" section?. Thanks so much for your time. Chupper (talk) 19:44, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pop Culture

Hi, and thanks for your note. I don't think that we are all that far off on pop culture per se. I think it is valuable, and has a major role in understanding our era. On the other hand, I do think that it receives far too much attention, and not from the proper perspective of understanding its significance and role. For example, I can wax on and on about the significance of Superman as a contemporary Moses figure, and his role as representation of various societal trends over the years (immigrant experience, World War II nationalism, the squeaky clean era of the fifties, to the cynicism of the twenty-first century can all be traced in the character's evolution). In fact, I was first drawn to Wikipedia after looking up kryptonite on the web. (I also have a copy of Folklore Quarterly on my desk open to an analysis of Aliens, but that's a different story.) On the other hand, lists of tv and movie references to every obscure topic, without any understanding of their significance is somewhat beyond what I would like to see. I also think it can be difficult to really appreciate the long term impact of a joke made on television last week, or a cultural reference in the latest version of Super Mario Brothers. In my opinion, that is something that needs the test of time. Danny (talk) 01:13, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, please do. Thanks. Danny (talk) 01:27, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That said, please note the tags "Category:Wikipedia articles needing clarification" and "Category:Wikipedia articles needing factual verification" which can probably be removed if it is up to par, or fixed. Also, BSL and CPK are disambigs, which can probably be directed to the right articles. (I love my parser!). Danny (talk) 01:30, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Probably best just to remove the tag if there is no valid reason for it. Danny (talk) 02:12, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Safe version here. Danny (talk) 02:22, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More articles to fix:

I've stumbled across a great source for ex-featured articles that we can fix up here, if we ever run out of ideas. I clicked on the links and about 90% of the articles shown were demoted FAs. Just a thought. If we ever get past vampire that is. I really want to give up, but I've given my last few months to it on here, so I'm unwilling to do that. I'll see what I can do without you for now then. Spawn Man (talk) 23:14, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are a couple of core articles in there - Mozart was the first ever main page featured article and it's a fairly core topic. I've also got a few other core topics on my to do list (See my user page links) which I pointed out to you previously. Anyway, I'm in the mood for writing, but vampire's more selective editing (IE, chopping down on the rubbish). Cheers, Spawn Man (talk) 03:32, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Casliber, I've self-nominated the above list for peer review, would appreciate any comments before nominating for featured list request.......Thanks.....Pmeleski (talk) 02:48, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spiffier triple crown, new awards available

Imperial triple crown jewels.

Hi, I've been sprucing up the triple crown awards. Here's the new version of the imperial triple crown jewels you've already earned. Feel free to replace your old one with this if you like the new version better. I've also introduced two new triple crown awards for editors who've done a lot of triple crown work: the Napoleonic and Alexander the Great edition awards. If you're active in a WikiProject, check out the new offer for custom WikiProject triple crowns. I'll make those upon request if five or more editors qualify. See User:Durova/Triple crown winner's circle for more information. Thanks for your hard work, and cheers! DurovaCharge! 22:14, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Knut?

Hey Cas, I know you're a busy guy, but wanted to point you in the direction of Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Knut (polar bear) if you hadn't already seen it. First time FAC'er with a quirky topic getting caught with 1) lack of interest and 2) tangential (seems to me at least) NFCC issues. I think the editor has potential so, promote or fail, I just don't want her to feel like the process was a complete waste of her time.

Can't wait to read Vampire when you're finished with it. I think I'm a week or so away from having Sumatran Rhinoceros polished into pretty decent shape. Some more reading to do/sources to find/commas to fix, etc... --JayHenry (talk) 06:47, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ahem, I'm editing Vampire too ya know. Honestly... ;) Hey Cas did you see what they've done with Green?? Dammit, we had dibs on the first colour FA! Well, I've already picked blue, and they stole green from you, dammit, what are we going to do now!? Since we're nearing the end of vampire, what are you going to pick for your article? You seem not to like pork, and since I think we should go with the "my nom, your nom etc etc" it'd be your choice next. I've also added a few articles to my list of to do's for my choice after the next article. Maybe you could pick out of a hat or something? Anyway, I feel like writing an article so I'm gonna find something to do. In regards to vampire, seeing as I don't have any sources for the middle bit and you wrote most of the middle, I don't think I'll be too much help. As I've put on the talk page, I've done the top, the bottom and now there's just that bit in the middle to do. Anyway, see you later. :) Spawn Man (talk) 23:49, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hahaha, sorry Spawn Man, no slight intended! When I said "when you're finished with it" I meant you-plural, of course! I should have said, "when y'all're finished with it." When you say pork do you mean, literally pork or pig? I've actually been thinking pig would be the animal I'd do after rhinos, but it'd be fun to do pork as well. --JayHenry (talk) 01:33, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No no, take your after-thought apologies elsewhere! I don't want to hear them! ;) Pork as in pork. Cas has got dibs on pork (I think...) but you can take pig. Well anyway, I made a new article (Pelagosaurus), but the systematic paleobiology was all up the chute. It felt good writing a new article for once, even if it wasn't the best. :) Cheers, Spawn Man (talk) 05:01, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that's fine with me. If I do pigs I get to use this story as a source. Tricky topic though. Half-zoology, half-agricultural. Not sure how to approach. --JayHenry 21:06, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, what about: Pigs are a genus of grunty things that go oink and taste relatively good. Yum! ;) Sure save on time. And that's so mean! Eating mini-pigs! You could call them piglet snacks or something. ;) Cheers, Spawn Man 04:42, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Woah! That fungus article is tripping! The refs section is longer than the actual article! Sorry I missed out on the chance to comment on that one - but serves you right for trying to become the site's leading FA'er. ;) *Must chop down tall poppy... must chop down tall poppy...* ;) I really did try last night to work on vampire, but I couldn't find anything for me (No references left, and that's what the article needs). I'm thinking; cut out the Japanese section and maybe mention the vampire from it elsewhere. That red link in African beliefs also stands out - I looked on the net for some info on it to start an article, but I couldn't find anything much, so I'm gonna de-link it for now. Cheers, Spawn Man (talk) 23:15, 7 December 2007 (UTC). P.S. Where'd you go for holiday?[reply]

Casliber,

I have been working on bringing the Cape Fear Shiner (a critically endangered fish endemic to North Carolina) up to GA status. I was wondering if you knew the root of the shiner's scientific name, Notropis mekistocholas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rufous-crowned Sparrow (talk) 20:38, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Anytime that you can get around to it is fine. I'm in no rush- I actually only seriously started on it today. Oh, and I also thought of a black eye when I first heard the fish's name. Normally I stick with flying things, but combine the fact of the name with the fact that it is critically endangered and endemic to my state and I was hooked. Rufous-crowned Sparrow (talk) 23:48, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the Japanese mention from the Asian beliefs section and mentioned it briefly in the opening. Please feel free to rewrite the new opening - It's not brilliant and is very similar to most of the other openings. JSYK. The prose for the middle is looking okay on the whole and it just needs your references now - do you have anything left to add from Barber et al? I've added all my stuff so whatever's left to reference is up to you (Small libraries here...), unless it's an online source, but I wouldn't know if it was legit or not... Hey RJ, given I am a neophyte when it comes to astronomy, are you happy that everything possibly technical and star-related has been added to the Sirius article? Have you seen the book by Holberg? It's got good background and analysis on the 'red sirius' and the issue of a 3rd body as well as some nifty stuff on the heliacal rising and I can play with all that. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 04:24, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Yes I think the article covers the salient details about Sirius reasonably well. I haven't been able to find anything else worth mentioning with regards to astronomical details. I think the page compares well with the accessible articles by Prof. Jim Kaler and the SolStation page. Unfortunately no I haven't read the book by Holberg. Thank you.—RJH (talk) 17:03, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's a fantastic read, borrowed it from uni library but may buy a copy one day. Just thought of something - maybe a sentence or two about the Sirius Supercluster may be good but I don't have any book refs or anything. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 22:46, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You got it. Thanks.—RJH (talk) 16:33, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just thought - it may be good to note how high it gets from some average northern cities such as London or New York as I have a note from St Petersburg (Russia not Florida!) in, but couldn't find it webwise. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 21:21, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's actually pretty easy to calculate. The maximum altitude of a star at culmination is equal to 90° + the star's declination − the city's (northern) latitude.[1] So (if I did my math right) the maximum altitude of Sirius is 73.3° − N. latitude. For London (+50.5°), this would be 22.3°.—RJH (talk) 21:38, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stars

Yes, that's been a vague to-do of mine. Alpha Centauri is the most obvious next candidate; Barnard's Star is done, of course. Wolf 359 could probably be done in three or four sittings. Another possibility is solar analogue stars: with Tau Ceti done, Epsilon Eridani and 18 Scorpii are candidates. If you want to do one, contact User:RJHall. Now the holidays are coming and I don't know if I'll do much for the next three weeks. I've been awful the last three months: wandering out of the mainspace for extended periods. I still want to finish Giant Otter. Marskell (talk) 10:56, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Cas. My next critically endangered animal project is going to be the Antiguan Racer. However, the current page on the species is known as "Antiguan Racer Snake" with "Antiguan Racer" redirecting to it. A google search shows 4280 hits for "Antiguan Racer" to 1140 for "Antiguan Racer Snake". Most websites, including the one for the group dedicated to its protection and the IUCN, refer to it as Antiguan Racer. However, I am not sure how to redirect the page so that Antiguan Racer would be the new main page for the species, though I do recall something about an admin having to do it. How would I approach changing the article's name?

Also, I should look at Vampire soonish... Thanks, Rufous-crowned Sparrow (talk) 21:03, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perfect. Was I correct in assuming that what you did was an admin thing, or could I have done it if I knew how? Thanks. Rufous-crowned Sparrow (talk) 05:25, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at the top of the page where 'protect', 'edit' etc. are, you'll notice a 'move' tab. Anyone can move an article to a new article name as long as there has been nothing in the new name. This way a page history migrates with the article and mis much better than swapping a page and redirect. If a page has existed at the destination page (even a mere redirect) then it requires an admin to do it. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 07:27, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good, but you've got several problems with the ref section; you are probably aware of this. I tried to follow the ref in the Hawaiian section back to the source, but there several listed by the same author. There are several ways to fix this, but I don't know what format you have chosen to go with. Nah, I don't think I need to step in - people seem to have wisened up to the anti-pop culture activists and have learnt that they're not all worth deleting. Besides, there isn't any opposes and it's looking like there's gonna be a few people working on it already. And I'm not fond of frogs - especially those giant, flat oblong ones from Africa, but they may be toads... Cheers, Spawn Man Review Me! 04:01, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heh - that would be cool. At the moment I'm working on a Powderfinger albums FT (I think I have 3 more to go and I'm done!) - and Portal:Powderfinger which Spebi and Daniel created...slowly working on Brisbane when I get sick of hearing about Sunsets, or who's On My Mind, or about These Days slipping right through my hands. What happened to Cas the Dino Hunter?

Hey Cas!

We at WP:DINO miss you. Your recent work, though excellent, has all been for the birds. While I suppose you should be allowed to work on whatever you want to work on, I sort of miss the ole Cas the Dino Hunter. Well, I miss working with you, anyway. feel free to ignore my bellyaching... :) Firsfron of Ronchester 22:37, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cas the Dino Hunter is, quite possibly, the coolest nickname ever. Dihydrogen Monoxide 22:46, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well he's been Cas the Vampire Hunter recently, but I guess he could settle for Cas the Undead Fossilised Fairy Wren Hunter I suppose... ;) I should really make a logo... :) Cas, more importantly; I am tired of waiting for vampire to be done. Let's just flag it. I've nothing more to add to the article (No more books on them), you're off doing other things I presume and we've both lost interest by the sounds of it. Let's just cut our losses. I don't want to have to give up my holidays with my fiance for undead articles which can't be resurrected. Unless we do one more push and send it off to FAC in the next 2 weeks, I'm moving on. I'm counting on you; we're a team. Spawn Man Review Me! 23:35, 20 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vampires

Just to comment that I'm with family for a few days, and although I do have Internet access, the setting is very unconducive to large-scale Wikipedia work. I'll go back to it later. The references' formatting has driven me nearly crazy, and I asked ghirlandajo (talk · contribs) if he could have a second look at the Russian-language stuff. Nancy Reagan today's featured article

Hi Casliber. I'm contacting you as someone whom I have previously worked with regarding some wording and gramtical problems with Nancy Reagan's TFA entry for tomorrow. I was going to change them, but the page is protected. Earlier today, I changed the article's lead to reflect some of Nancy's fashion interests and glamor and I have improved the sentence structure. I think something like what is below would work better for the main page entry:

Nancy Davis Reagan (born Anne Frances Robbins on July 6, 1921) is the widow of the former United States President Ronald Reagan and was First Lady of the United States from 1981 to 1989. She was an actress in the 1940s and 1950s, starring in films such as Donovan's Brain, Night into Morning, and Hellcats of the Navy. She married Ronald Reagan in 1952, who was then president of the Screen Actor's Guild; they have two children. Nancy became the First Lady of California when her husband was Governor from 1967 to 1975. She became the First Lady of the United States in January 1981 with Ronald Reagan's presidential victory, experiencing criticism early in her husband's first term due largely to her decision to replenish the White House china. Nancy restored a Kennedy-esque glamor to the White House following years of lax formality, and her interest in high-end fashion garnered much attention. She championed recreational drug prevention causes by founding the "Just Say No" drug awareness campaign, which was considered her major initiative as First Lady. More controversy ensued when it was revealed in 1988 that she had consulted an astrologer to assist in planning the president's schedule after the 1981 assassination attempt on her husband's life. The Reagans retired to their home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California in 1989. Nancy devoted most of her time to caring for her ailing husband, diagnosed in 1994 with Alzheimer's disease, until his death in 2004. As of 2007, Nancy Reagan has remained active in politics, particularly as relates to stem-cell research.

I only added in one more sentence (technically per WP:LEAD) and improved wording of the First Lady of California bit. These changes would improve the article's main page entry, so I am asking you to please consider making the changes as you are an admin and I cannot edit the page. I left a similar note on Raul654's talk page and the admin's noticeboard but wanted to share this with you as well. Thanks, Happyme22 (talk) 22:42, 23 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ongoing RPG notability/AfD situation

Hi, Casliber. Was wondering if you wouldn't mind reading my take on this situation around here of late, with all the AfD stuff going on in the RPG sector. My user page article is here. Thanks in advance. Compsword01 (talk) 21:40, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I notice that you have (re-)reverted a number of editing tags that requested WP:RS to support claims of WP:N. Is there a particular reason that these articles should not be subject to the same standards as other Wikipedia articles? GundamsRus (talk) 22:11, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
While the expanation you left on my page about the {Notability (books)} tag being inappropriate for games covers this reversion [2] and perhaps this [3] because while I had initially intended just to revert as indicated in the summary, I instead placed the generic notability tag, so if you were simply looking at the edit history, that makes sense. But it does not explain this one [4] where you removed an {in universe} tag and a {primary sources} tag from an article that is essentially entirely in universe and has only primary sources or this reversion [5] where you removed a {no references} tag from an article with no references. Were those simply mistakes or were there other reasons for removing the tags? GundamsRus (talk) 06:22, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vampire filler text

Do you think some filler text can be inserted at the beginning of the "Natural sources of vampire belief" section? I get iffy with two headers without text, but this has 3, and I'm pretty sure you can get intro text for both sections. Circeus (talk) 05:45, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spawny and I will see what we can do. How worried are you about the size of the article cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 05:55, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I doubt much can be condensed anyway, except maybe in pathology, where I'm not clear that Rabies, prem. burial and Contagion need entire sections when they could easily enough be condensed into 1-2 paragraphs as a whole. Rabies especially should only garner a mention in intro to "pathology" given that it's only one main source and has not, unlike the porphyria link, received much attention beyond that AFAICT.
The only thing that I can see being spun off for size reducing is "Folk beliefs" (Vampire folklore is a fairly straightforward title for such an subarticle), which would then be condensed to only include one level of subsections.
Of course there's a fair number of {{fact}} todeal with too.07:29, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

'py New Year + various

A FAR broom for the New Year!

Hey Cas. Happy New Year! My grandfather would say 'py New Year, so that's what I do.

WP:FAR has had few comments over the holidays and there's a variety I'd like to close pending an extra kp or rm. As I didn't get you a Christmas present, I offer a broom now to aid in the task.

What's on your FA radar? You're all about the little birds, I think. I took Battle of Musa Qala to FAC, for a change; recent events seem easy, but they present their own difficulties. I suppose we should go back and finish the big cats. I'll be out of holiday mode in a week. Cheers, Marskell (talk) 04:16, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and I did get your note about longest articles via the bot. At the time, I was sorta thinking Betacommand was a dick, after a dust-up with Ceoil, and didn't respond. It is cool though. A list of FAs by length would be neat.
Did we do up a list of successful FA nominators for '07? I thought it would be Awadewit but then HurricaneHink went mad (for hurricanes)! Marskell (talk) 04:41, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow, I wish it was Mango season stateside... Thanks for the laugh and happy new year! Speaking of cats, did you guys notice a couple of editors have started picking away at Tiger recently? Particularly User:Eliezg who has brought Walrus to GA. Also, on the subject of mammals, there's another really good new editor I've noticed on my watchlist - User:Helioseus, a Mammalian Paleontologist. He's cleaned up hundreds of extinct mammal pages in the last month or so. Would be good to figure out how to keep these two motivated and encouraged. Okay, gotta go spruce up my Sumatran Rhino a bit, thanks for looking in on that by the way... will respond to all your points within 24 hours (my goal at least!) --JayHenry (talk) 05:38, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Finally!

I have finally finished copy editing and commenting on vampire. How fun was it to read that article! Thanks again for asking! I hope my little list of comments isn't too overwhelming. Awadewit | talk 20:50, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I'm going to level. I want this article off before February. Not wanting to be controlling, but would it be too much to ask if we could both put our other projects on here aside until it's done. We had to pick the friggin' hardest article to send off first didn't we? ;) Anyway, I'm just a bit cranky because my computor asked me to download a new version of Windows Explorer even though I didn't want to. It kept on bugging me about it so I gave in, and now it's stuffed up all my settings and the writing on here is all smooshed up and tiny, despite how many times I try and enlarge it. Big paragraphs on here now look like tiny ones. Very annoying. Man microsoft sucks. Spawn Man (talk) 00:41, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oooo... Do tell of this mozilla! Is it easy to install and get rid of internet explorer? Maybe when I get a new apple mac though... Muahahahaaha! :) Spawn Man (talk) 00:52, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've asked to see if werewolf is covered...cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 01:18, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, I don't think it would be, but I'm willing to be surprised... :) Gosh, let's just hope that article isn't as bad a vampire... *Gulp*! Spawn Man (talk) 02:45, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would come out about half the size. I'll see what they say. I was musing on the whole pop culture thingy and working from 'top down' may be best way to show sceptics that pop culture is important - eg doing articles like vampire and derivative film/literature ones, werewolf etc. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 02:51, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Aw, ain't my talk page good enough to talk on. I don't blame you, that stick drawing guy cussed at me the other day... ;) In regard to doing pop culture/fiction article like vampire and werewolf - Oh yeah, totally. I think it's a hole we can fill perfectly and might be our calling. I still want to do factual articles, but yes, I was intending to do lots and lots of pop culture articles over the course of my stay here. :) I'm just doing some stuff with cryptozoology at the moment. I wrote the cryptid article (It'd be awesome if you could take a gander; I'm not sure the flow or tense is right) and I'm about to try and take List of cryptids to FLC after I'm done with it. There's tonnes of material there which we could do - I've got a chupacabra article and the wikipedia article doesn't have a quarter of it! Related to vampires, ya never know it could be our next FA! ;) Cheers, Spawn Man (talk) 03:16, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've looked through the category of furry fandom and I've come up with some articles I think we could easily get to GA for US$50 or FA for US$150 (Although I think someone's closing in on the FA). Some pretty sick shit - I mean I could never get turned on by looking at snoopy or garfield - but if it's making me some cash, I can live with it. Let's just hope my fiance doesn't think I'm turning "funny" when she finds all the searches for furry fandom lol... :)
Okay, articles - Both of these articles are fairly well related to werewolves etc, and therefore aren't a big stretch: Animal transformation fantasy & Talking animal. Then there's borderline encyclopedic/non-fandom articles which are more our kind of work than actual furry articles: Timothy Albee & Anthropomorphism. And then there's the furry stuff: Bagi, the Monster of Mighty Nature & Fursuit. All of these can either be easily gotten to GA or are already halfway there. There's still another 7 GA rewards left (So split between us that's US$175 each) and 1 FA reward. We really need to finish vamps off, get into these ones and then move on to werewolf, or whatever you pick for your collaboration pick (Since vamps is mine). Are you mad at me or something? Is it because I don't agree with furry fandom stuff? Because if you're into that, I'm totally cool with it; I just would never practise. Hopefully we can still be partners riight? Spawn Man (talk) 11:42, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No no. I must have missed the post above. Sorry, didn't see it. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 11:46, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
