Atlantic Ocean

Please don't remove metric data from the articles, as you did to Atlantic Ocean. Wikipedia has readers for all over the world, and many of them don't understand English units. Thanks. AlexiusHoratius 18:23, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

English units have been around far longer the metric units,

I know they have, but again, many readers do not understand English units, and the Manuel of Style says to use metric units along with their English equivs. AlexiusHoratius 18:59, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Caroline Righton

She is a public figure. You cannot come on and delete her page. If you continue deleting the page, you will be blocked. Thank you. Ginsengbomb (talk) 00:37, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please see my response on the article talk page. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 00:38, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

With all due respect yes I can come on and delete her. I work for Caroline and she has told me she does not want to have a wikipedia page

As explained, she does not get to determine that Wikipedia may not have have an article on her. It is not her page. If you have any concerns about the content of the page then please do raise them. But removing the page is not an option. Please also note that Wikipedia has guidelines on conflicts of interest that you should read before you edit a page about your employer. Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 00:50, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So you're telling me that a person has no right to control his/her information what so ever. Oh and by the way if she can't delete her page howcome her opponent Stephen Gilbert was able to delete his a few months ago?

No, the person has control over the -accuracy- of the information. That is very different from "no right to control...what so ever." But not whether or not the information appears. I do not know why or how Stephen Gilbert was able to somehow delete his page, but that is irrelevant to the matter at hand. Caroline Righton does not own the page, so she cannot remove it, just as she doesn't own any of the content being used to source the information on her page. I am sorry, but that is the truth of it. Ginsengbomb (talk) 01:07, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Are you the Anon editor who blanked the page on 1st October? As users Escape Orbit and Ginsengbomb have pointed out, she passes the criteria for WP:notability. However, be aware that: (1) continually blanking the page will get you banned, (2) As you claim to work for Caroline Righton, you may be blocked from editing this page through rules on WP:BIAS. As has been pointed out, you or Caroline Righton can point out issues of inaccuracy which can be quickly modified. I would also advise, having been involved with other pages where users where concerned about content inclusion or editing by those with an agenda, that there are other rules and outlined ways of dealing with concerns of those who have articles at Wikipedia. If you could communicate here or to one of us on our talk pages what these concerns are, perhaps we could address these directly. Not having a page is not an option, but making sure it is accurate and managing it carefully are all covered within our rules. If you have any questions, happy to chat. Stephen Gilbert's page

The Stephen gilbert who is standing for election in Cornwall never had a wikipedia page. There is another person of the same name whose page was erroneously linked to the constituency page. The link was deleted, but the page wasn't. Hope this help explain things. Rankersbo (talk) 09:36, 2 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
