That's where I saw it (and opportunistically used it <cringe>). It's an interesting thing, socially grown/shared words. I saw your addition to the article and wondered if "Crossing the Bar" was related to Tennyson's poem and if, since you know what the play is about, you might like to start a stub about it? hint hint My best wishes for a key role to find you – in plenty of time. The playwright has an article that makes him notable, and there's an article One-act play with a short list of examples, so in the name of not letting flatulence get a bigger billing, why not? (IMHO of course) I'm amused by what people say for the sake of saying something and that excerpt is funny. Is there a script you can reference? Fairuse/Free use on the Main Page

Hi CBHA, Wikipedia has a slightly stricter interpretation of the more generic US Fair use law. If you look at the fairuse guidelines as well as WP:Non-free content criteria you can see the rules for use of non-free images on Wikipedia. They should not be used in articles if there is a free equivalent and they shouldn't be in any namespace other than the article space (ie in templates, portals, WP: pages). It would only serve as decoration and as we have a valid free-use image for the ITN section on the main page, there is no need to replace it. It is a longstanding convention here on Wikipedia that only free images should be used on the Main Page and I've tried to explain the reasoning behind that above. No problem, happy to help. Yep, you've got it there with your last paragraph: only fair-use images cannot be used for decorative purposes. IE images that we don't own the copyright for cannot be used as mere decoration, they must have a clear rationale to be there and offer significant educational benefit to the reader. Free-use images can be used as much as you like and in any namespace you like.

It is a shame because that image is a great image but we don't have any legal right to use it under the strict interpretation of fair-use that Wikipedia enforces. Woody (talk) 18:07, 5 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, CBHA. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
