A Oscar list article I just found right now-List of movies with more than one Academy Award nomination in the same category

Not sure what to make of this List of movies with more than one Academy Award nomination in the same category, it would work better IMO if they included song of course. But overall its just the same as the acting one. (The creator of the article is now adding in unsourced opinions of the Oscars meanwhile which is how I found this) Wgolf (talk) 18:35, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Hey! You mind if I do some work on the list? Don't get me wrong. I am not here to ruin your contributions or such. Some work are there to be done, which I am willing to do if you are okay with it. -- FrankBoy CHITCHAT 18:34, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

  • @FrB.TG: Yes, you may do work on the list. In fact, I am very extremely thankful your help. I am taking a summer college course, and am afraid I might fall behind in improving the list. Also, I'm not sure if there are awards that are not relevant to the list. I wanted to ask Cowlibob for help, but he has finals until Wednesday. So your help is extremely appreciated. I plan to submit the list on November 23, 2015 (fourth anniversary of the US release) Thank you sooo much.
--Birdienest81 (talk) 19:43, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
In relation to the query on my talkpage, include all awards who have independent pages on wikipedia already. For any that don't ensure that they would meet the general notability guideline to be red linked if they don't then exclude them as non notable. IMDb is usually comprehensive in terms of what awards a film has won but they do not have a filter for notability so simply being on IMDb is not a criterion for inclusion. Cowlibob (talk) 16:32, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
I agree with Cowlibob. Awards having no independent articles shouldn't be included yet the exclusion of them are always objected by certain reviewers. BTW Birdie, can you proofread my nomination of Taylor's accolades. -- FrankBoy CHITCHAT 21:54, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
  • FrB.TG I'll try, but for July, I'm really busy with a GIS class. So, it'll take awhile.

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to 73rd Academy Awards may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s and 1 "{}"s likely mistaking one for another. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

The Artist

Just FYI: I'm going to change the nominations count in this way 1 award = 1 nomination, not like as it is right now: 1 award ≠ 1 nomination and 1 award = 0 nomination. It always confuses readers. For example it will be 10 nominations and 5 wins from the Academy Awards. -- Frankie talk 15:43, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Correct Term

I would really prefer if the word "Character" was used and not the word " Role ". Character is the correct term and is consistent with other lists I have created for other film awards. Please see Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Actress, BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, etc. It's not really a big change considering it's one word. Thanks! HesioneHushabye (talk) 03:08, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

  • @HesioneHushabye:: Since this is a featured list, I think it is best that we ask the FL delegates before making changes.
--Birdienest81 (talk) 16:58, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
I don't think we need to debate * one word * , especially if you personally don't have a preference, but OK... HesioneHushabye (talk) 17:29, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 58th Academy Awards, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Variety. Please don't mess with other people's talk

It is my understanding that it is a violation on Wikipedia to remove other people's non-vandal comments on talk. Please do not do that again.

I actually had added a comment to List of accolades received by The Artist (film) pending FLC promotion, but perhaps failed to publish. There would have been no way for you to know that, but my failure to update the FLC does not grant you the right to move or remove my comment.

Appropriate actions would have been adding your own comment to the FLC linking to the conversation on my talk page, or re-pinging me.

Thisisnotatest (talk) 17:20, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

@Thisisnotatest: Okay, but if you say the comments (The one that starts with "Instead of making the whole box a table...) are resolved, why are they still appearing? Can you at least cap those comments because the DLC delegates will think that those comments were not resolved. I'm not asking for you to support my list, but at least strike through the comments, put it in the resolved comments section, or place comments underneath those comments saying they have been resolved.
--Birdienest81 (talk) 18:46, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
I didn't recognize that those were my comments because somebody moved them and they no longer had my signature. Thisisnotatest (talk) 20:09, 8 October 2015 (UTC)
@Thisisnotatest: That's because when I responded to your comments, I answered them separately with the one regarding the infobox below that one, and the other one about the accolades table below that one. So now you were not able to recognize your comments since I separated them by my responses. I did that so I could answer them individual. Sorry if that created confusion. This edit history here show that it is indeed your comments. So can you please strike them out. I don't want the FLC delegates to think the comments were not resolved. I am asking politely. I could ask the delegates to help.

Hello. Back in February the article that I re-wrote on the TV sitcom Temperatures Rising was promoted to GA status. Since then the article has had some further refining, including a"once-over" by the Guild of Copy Editors. I have now submitted it again as an FAC. Since you supported it last time would you care to take a look at it once more? Jimknut (talk) 17:09, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Closure update

The new bot that we have automatically removes closed FLCs from the main FLC page when it runs, among other steps that the closers no longer have to do. :-) It should be off FLC within the next day or so; if it isn't, I'll contact the bot operator. Giants2008 (Talk) 15:24, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

And it still hasn't been fully closed. I'll go talk to Hawkeye about it. Giants2008 (Talk) 15:03, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
I really appreciate all your wiki work and edits, especially regarding the academy awards. I am completely incapable of doing an edit myself- I don't have a clue how to do it and really don't have the need to try and learn (not that I could- my computer skills are very limited). But I have an issue with the 1995 academy awards page and since you seem very concerned with accuracy and darn sure have the capability to make changes, I thought I'd just contact you and ask you to look into it and- if I'm right- correct the error on the page. The area in question is the BEST ACTOR nominations on the 1995 Academy Awards. If you google, look at the IMDB page, or any other quick research you will find countless sources saying that Richard Dryfuss was nominated for Best Actor in 1995 (for Mr. Holland's Opus). Yet it isn't shown on the wiki page for the 1995 awards. These other sources might be wrong, or there may be some other explanation that justifies Mr. Dryfus not being listed on the 1995 Academy Awards page for Best Actor. If so, I'm sorry I've wasted your time. If those sources are correct and Mr. Dryfus SHOULD be listed on that wiki page, I respectfully ask that you please make that change. I know I'm just some stranger who isn't even smart enough to properly edit a wiki page, but I'd be forever grateful if you would at least take a moment to look into this and perhaps (PLEASE!) even let me know what you decided. (my email is sunnyspottravel@yahoo.com) Thanks so much!!! Thecityman (talk) 15:51, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for your work, please help with a correction

I'm very sorry if this is in any way inappropriate, and I know it is a little bizarre. I've read wiki pages for years but have never tried to edit, create, or make any contributions to a wiki page. I signed up today for the sole purpose of trying to suggest a change to a page, but my extremely limited computer skills have failed me again and I'm just not able to figure out the right way to suggest a possible error for discussion. I'm also not confident enough that it is an error for me to just change the entry- even if I could. However, I have seen your username in many, many academy award wiki pages and you genuinely seem interested in accuracy on these pages. ANd certainly you have made enough edits to prove you have the capability to make changes and the knowledge to go through the proper steps in making such a change. I know I'm just a random stranger (and one who isn't even smart enough to correct a possible wiki page error or even open a discussion for purposes of investigating a possible error. But like you, I think accuracy is important, and if what I'm about to describe is, in fact, an error, then I'd really like to see it corrected. If it is not an error- or there is some other explanation for why it APPEARS to be an error, then I'd really love to find out more about that-and I suspect others would as well. So with my very low computer skill level, about the only thing I could find to try and address this possible error is to write you and ask for your help! I hope you will take 3-4 minutes of your time to at least look into the situation, decide if it is an error or not, and then correct it if it is. Last but not least, I also beg you to send me a quick response describing whether you decided it was an error or not and, if it was, whether you corrected it. I know that may be a lot for a stranger to ask, but I'm relying on your history of trying to keep academy award pages as accurate as possible, along with your human nature, and hoping you will take a few minutes to look into this and let me know what you find and, if there is an error, correct it for the world to see. Thanks so much.

The problem- or at least the question- that I have involves the 1995 academy awards, particularly the category of best actor. You see, if you do even the most basic of internet searches, you will find many, many sources that say Richard Dryfuss was nominated for Best actor in the 1995 Oscar's for the movie Mr. Holland's Opus. He is said to have been nominated for the 1995 Oscars on sites like the IMDB page for the movie, on Mr. Dryfuss' own wiki page, and many, many other source web pages that you can find with a simple google search. Yet his name nor the movie name is not mentioned anywhere on the 1995 Academy Awards wiki page.

I may well be missing something, or the sources I have viewed are all wrong, or perhaps his nomination was later officially stricken from the record, or there is some other explanation that I do not know about. SO I'm not just writing to say the page is wrong and must be corrected. I'm writing to say that from what I have seen, the 1995 Academy Awards page APPEARS to have a POSSIBLE error in the omission of Richard Dryfuss name from the list of best actor nominations on the wiki page for 1995 Academy Awards. Please take a moment to investigate and if there is an error, please correct it. If not, you might even consider an entry somewhere on the page explaining why so many other sources say Dryfuss was a nominee but why it isn't listed on the wiki page (ie other sources are wrong, he was removed from list for cause, etc Surely I'm not the only one who has noticed the discrepancy and wondered about it.

Sorry this is so long. Thanks so much for all your time. Please consider taking a moment to let me know what your own research showed on this matter and what, if any, action you took regarding the 1995 AA page. I know this is not your job or responsibility, I'm just hoping you care enough to try and make this right, and from all your other edits, I think you do! Thanks.
