A favor

Hello, Bendono, I come here to ask you a favor since you can read Korean and have interest in history. I don't know you're active these days, but I think you're a perfect person to meditate some disputes caused by Bukubku (talk · contribs) on Woo Jang-choon, Korean-Japanese scientist. The seemingly Japanese newbie who has insisted that he can not believe any Korean user and even Korean sources unlike his own insertion of Korean sources to Empress Myeongseong (spurious sources that were written forcefully after the assassination of here). Unlike his highly suspicious behaviors (e.g. his falsification on the article), he keeps defaming me and harassing me with various lies, so I can't work with him in this circumstance. The newbie defamed that I'm a racist because I restored his massive blanking from Woo Jang-choon, and did forum shopping to several admins instead of my suggestion to open a discussion at the talk page (see Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Japan#Woo_Jang-choon) Therefore, a third opinion from a third person is really necessary. Could you accept this offer? Nihonjoe said he would be willing to check sources even though he can't read Korean source, but more eyes would prevent him from being out of line again. Sorry for the delay. I've been pretty busy lately with little free time. Thanks for the messages. It's been a while since I've heard from either of you. I hope both of you are doing well. I briefly looked into the above links, but regret to inform you that I will decline the invitation for the following reasons:
  1. Mediation is available here.
  2. There is essentially no real discussion at Talk:Woo Jang-choon or Talk:Empress Myeongseong where it belongs.
  3. Particularly in the case of Woo Jang-choon the references are so minimal and few that it hurts the article. There is a bibliography, but no idea which books or which pages were used to create the actual article. Further, the only real ref, the Official Gazette of Korea, does not display unless you install an external plugin (OIS_Capture), which I will not, and the source would appear to be a primary source from 1896. Surely there must be better resources...
  4. Far too much personal bickering and drama. I am not interested in who is to blame, but only in how to improve articles.
  5. I fear that intervening would only beg for trouble. I do not have the time for that right now.

Sorry for the trouble, but I really need your favor since I've acknowledged that you've been a neutral editor with good linguistic ability as well as with good credibility. Indeed, there is no discussion because Bukubku (talk · contribs) has rejected to address his claim to the talk page of the article, but has been busy for making ANI reports and forum shopping with defamative insults about me. I barely confirmed his argument at ANI yesterday first. How about just checking on whether provided sources that I'm gonna "quote" from a book written in Korean at the talk page is correct or not. The other editor keeps making personal attakcs like "I can't believe Caspian blue because he is a shameless vandal" "I can't believe South Koreans and Korean sources." etc. I've made 30 new articles to be featured as DYK so far, so I just can't put up with such insults by the newbie. After the sources are posted on the talk page, all you could help me is to confirm the Korean sources. Then you just let the thing resolved by other admin or editors. Classical Japanese

Hi! You seem to look at Japanese calligraphy. Is it correct to use 有り in the classical Japanese context? User Chokinbako says it's perfectly OK. I'm not sure but it should be 在り or をる/居る. Even in a classical ja context, I think the subject should be animate when you use 有る. Would you please clarify the usage of verb/kanji for me? Thank you. Hi Mari. I agree with Chokinbako: I do not think that there is anything odd with this usage. While modern Japanese distinguishes between animate (i- 居る, or- 居る) and inanimate (ar- 有る・在る) existence, in classical Japanese both are merely ar- (有り). wor- (< wi + ar-) (居り) originally meant "to sit in one place". Of course the semantics of both words gradually changed over time to where we are now. Let me give you a few well-known examples:
  • 竹取物語: 「いまは昔、竹取の翁といふもの有けり。」(start)
  • 伊勢物語: 「むかし、おとこ有けり。ならの京は離れ、この京は人の家まださだまらざりける時に、西の京に女ありけり。」 (chapter 2. By the way, almost every chapter begins with むかし、おとこありけり. I know, をとこ is correct spelling, but the manuscripts use おとこ.)
  • 今昔物語:「此ノ國ニ若干(ソコバク)ノ御弟子有リ、皆、止事无キ徳行ノ人也。」(volume 11, chapter 4)
