Welcome to Wikipedia

Hello, BW52, and welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia is one of the world's fastest growing internet sites. We aim to build the biggest and most comprehensive encyclopaedia in the world. To date we have over 4 million articles in a host of languages. The English Language Wikipedia alone has over 1 million articles! But we still need more! Please feel free to contribute your knowledge and expertise to our site.

Here are a few good links for newcomers:

We hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Thanks for saying hello! I've actually been here a while, I just haven't been doing much editing until lately. BW52 01:15, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ya, but I'm used to people attacking me. ;-) You should see some of the comments they leave me. DGX 04:41, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Corstorphine

Great job tidying up Corstorphine ! Any tips on how to stop typing Corstorphone ? (soon to be Corstorphine resident) GeraldH 10:49, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Begining to Really Hate IP Adresses

I've been trying to edit , and I've discovered the IP adress has been blocked. It makes me really mad because I'm trying to fix vandalism, only to discover I can't because of vandalism. Can this be fixed?

And all the info from the "User is blocked" page: Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing. You were blocked by Tawker for the following reason (see our blocking policy): vandalism

Your IP address is 142.22.16.55.

There isn't any other information I need for this, is there?

BW52 20:23, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. If you ever find your shared IP blocked, you should try to contact by e-mail the admin who applied the block. The {{unblock}} template works as well (but try to avoid using "helpme"). Hope things work out. — TheKMantalk 20:29, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I'll try that. Thanks! BW52 20:30, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have to leave too soon, so unfortunately I can't deal with this quick enough to get the IP adress unblocked or anything, and then actually do anything constructive. If someone's been enough of a pain to get it blocked again tomorrow, I'll try again. Thanks for the help, though! BW52 20:39, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalProof Application

Dear BW52,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.2 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that for security reasons, VandalProof's creator requires it's users to have made 250 edits to articles, which you have not. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. Belgacom

Hi BW52,

I remove the link you made to Belgacom Skynet on the Belgacom page. Indeed Skynet iMotions activities is only a subsidiary of Belgacom Skynet but not Belgacom Skynet itself.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
