Protection templates

Hi Australiania. Please be aware that added protection templates to articles does not protect them: only administrators can protect articles, and the templates are then added to advise that they are indeed protected. As noted on the template page itself, "This template is not to be used as a bluff. Only use it on SEMI-PROTECTED pages. Please note that only administrators can protect pages". GA Review

Thankyou for nominating Keisha Castle-Hughes for GA. Unfortunately, this article failed good article nomination. This is how the article, as of July 16, 2024, compares against the six good article criteria:

1. Well written?: Fail
2. Factually accurate?: Neutral
3. Broad in coverage?: Fail
4. Neutral point of view?: Pass
5. Article stability? Pass
6. Images?: Fail


A solid start has been made to this article, however there is a great deal to be done before it can be considered as a GA. If you take a look at the Wikipedia Emma Watson article, you can get an idea of just what can, and should, be written about a young actress.

For example:

  • Far more is needed on Keisha Castle-Hughes' background, and the confusion, as detailed on this talk page, over her nationality situation should be cleared up. The lead is also far too short, and should ideally include more about her early life and career.
  • More detail, and references to back up the facts, are needed about her family too, as well as clarication over her father's nationality. He is either English with Australian roots or Australian with English roots, but not "English-Australian."
  • The very short section on her career simply dives into her appearance in the film Whale Rider as an 11-year-old. There is no background information on how she got the role, what filming was like, etc. This needs much more detail, and far more references.
  • The same goes for the paragraph on her film projects since Whale Rider. She has made several films, yet there is hardly anything written about them.
  • There are no images, and although this is not a criteria for passing GA, it would make the article look brighter.

GA nomination

Thank you for nominating The Devil Wears Prada for GA. It always flatters me when someone else nominates an article I have worked on so hard, and I don't think there's any article save Anna Wintour (already a GA, and a biography A-class) that I've put as much into.

I don't know when it will be reviewed; I haven't kept pace with GAN in a while. However, hopefully before then I will have made the split (of what's essentially the "making of" article) that I've been putting off for a year. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Deletion of article to create disambig

Nah - needs a lot more thinking that one - you do not delete valid articles to create a new disambig - you create new disambigs - specially if you are creating a whole range of red links as you have at the disambig - nah not a good way to go - and the specific disambig does not look like one - it looks like a wish list.

Disambigs link to valid blue links - live articles.

Please realise that you are gonna get speedy deletes and a few annoyed eds wondering what on earth you are up to when you do that what you have done. Try to think to one side - you do not delete valid articles at a whim either - it should have been addressed at a talk page - at least three no no's on mothers day!

If you specifically had repositioned the deleted material into another article- and created valid notable stubs which were both put in suitable categories and tagged for the oz lit project - so that the disambig was linking to real articles - there might have been some redeeming issues - as it is you have left a mess that you will probably find someone may well revert - accept it - and try to not do what you did again.

  • Create a new disambig that points only to valid unchallenged articles
  • Make sure the previous article is recovered and put somewhere - while you are in 'mid flight' or off wikipedia
  • Expect speedy delete's from those who cannot read your mind :( from your edits
