Just a note

You can remove the {{cot}} but, my rational still stands, turning request for rights into file uploads request is not for WP:PERM/C this is done at WP:FFU as you already know. Thank you. Mlpearc (powwow) 18:04, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with you, as they didn't request the upload of a file, but the confirmed permission. I just uploaded these files, because I didn't see any reason why not, and asked if they need the permission for anything other? There is nothing wrong with that. Or uploading the file and declining the request with pointing to my talk page if they want something other would be better? Armbrust, B.Ed. Wes Hampton (copyright)

I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand why I cannot use that image I requested ability to use. I doesn't mention a copyright on the image, and I if it is non-free, then I am not sure how to find a free one, as he is a Christian singer, and I am not sure to find one that I can use. Sorry, I am new to this type of editing, and if you could find some way or someone to help, that would be great. Quadspyder (talk) 13:14, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well the image you want to use is on this website. According to it: "©2010 Wes Hampton. All Rights Reserved." As the image is copyrighted it can not be used under a free license, and only the non-free option remains. However this isn't applicable there either, as according to the first non-free content criteria a non-free file can only be used if a free equivalent wouldn't be available. However I have fund four free images on FlickR (1, 2, 3 and 4. You can upload these image(s) to our free image repository, the Commons. You do not need any special permissions to upload there and you can use the same username and password you use here. Regards, Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 13:34, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thank you, that is very helpful. However I still do not have permission to upload these pictures for the article, how would I go about doing that? Quadspyder (talk) 15:18, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As I said: "You can upload these image(s) to our free image repository, the Commons. You do not need any special permissions to upload there and you can use the same username and password you use here." The images upload there can used on the English Wikipedia too. Armbrust, B.Ed. Of course not. The closure makes just clear, that the project wasn't created yet. In other word not created isn't the same as not creatable. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 16:06, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

FFU script for AFCH

Hi, I started to develop the FFU script part for the AFCH. An old copy of the gadget (same days, maybe weeks old) with the new improvements can be found at User:Mabdul/afchelper4.1.js‎. At the moment I'm still working on the design and the options. See also my test sandbox at Wikipedia:Files for upload/sandbox. Any ideas, did I miss something? Feel free to post it here, at my talk page, or at WP:AFCH/DEV if you find anything.

Known issues:

  • no checkbox for /recent (will be added in a few minutes)
  • one of the headlines doesn't show up (I have no clue why at the moment)

mabdul 19:14, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It looks good, but it doesn't work for me. It doesn't do anything at all (with the exception of the comment function, where it gives "Got token Got Wikipedia:Files for upload/sandbox Saved Wikipedia:Files for upload/sandbox Done (Reload page)", but no edit happens.) Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 20:02, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, as I said: I forked today the AFC/R part and modified it. At the moment I only created so that the design works. The 'underlying code'/backend code will be added in the next few days, although this shouldn't be so hard. I will inform you if it works completely, and after a short beta phase it will be merged to the AFCH gadget! mabdul 20:13, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 20:14, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures

Hello, Armbrust. You were helpful before, so I am contacting you again about making changes. My account is now confirmed, and I have begun uploading pictures that I have found at many different places in the public domain. Unfortunately, I do not seem to be able to upload past two photos at the moment. Is there a time limit I must wait between each time I put on a picture? Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Today2 (talkcontribs) 02:34, 16 July 2012‎

I don't know from such a limit and it looks like from your upload log, that it has been solved. Also note, that publicly available isn't the same as public domain. The copyright holder has to explicitly release their work in to the public domain (or under a free license), otherwise it's copyrighted. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 07:23, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was able to solve the issue. Ok, thank you for clarifying the difference. Would it be better if I categorized the pictures as copyrighted, but with with fair use, as the school knows I am making the changes to this page? While the pictures I am using seem to be widely used, I have informed the school that I would be making these changes. The pictures I am try to reference are those mainly coming from the school itself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Today2 (talkcontribs) 12:05, 16 July 2012‎
The school have to release the images, as per the image use policy. For further information see: Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials and Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries. If they do this, than the images should be uploaded to our free image repository, the Commons with the {{OTRS pending}} template. You do not need any special permissions to upload there and you can use the same username and password you use here. Armbrust, B.Ed. Welcoming someone doesn't mean they become confirmed. Also WP:Spoken articles should be uploaded to the Commons. Saw your decline. I was not aware of the a7 restriction on educational orgs, thanks for informing me. However, after re-reading the article, I do not believe that is an education organization and therefore the original speedy was legitimate, however I will not contest too strongly. It is clearly talking about standards and training of employees of technical companies. In any case, I have PRODed it. Gaijin42 (talk) 15:29, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think the article is not about an organisation, but an educational program. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 15:31, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your message. I see you've removed the CSD tag. If you check the page logs, you'll see it has been deleted as A7 in the past. Though you're right in saying that A7 doesn't specifically apply to buildings, it does apply to companies and organizations. The article isn't specifically about the building itself; it's about the business (a hotel). I would ask that you replace the tag. If not, I'll go to AfD instead. Regards. Basalisk inspect damageberate 16:15, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think this doesn't fall under A7, as it looks like the article is about a building and a company. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 16:19, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well they're one and the same, aren't they? The building is part of the company, not vice versa, and so A7 should apply. If some other entity were housed in the same building, it wouldn't, but this isn't the case.
For example, the Hilton Hotels & Resorts article could theoretically fall under A7 if the company were non-notable, but the Beetham Tower, Manchester article certainly wouldn't, even though the tower is mainly occupied by Hilton Hotels, because the article is about the structure itself. With the Hotel Osijek article, however, this isn't an issue, as the building and company are one and the same. Are you sure I can't persuade you to reconsider? Basalisk inspect damageberate 16:24, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have made a reconsideration, but came to the same conclusion. The article is entirely focused on the building itself, and no information is about the company. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 16:31, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Well thanks for the response anyway, please comment at the AfD. Regards Basalisk inspect damageberate 16:34, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Can you prove the IP is a sock? Otherwise WP:3RRNO#3 doesn't apply. And if you can, than why didn't fill an SPI or reported the IP to ANI? Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 08:23, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I just saw [11], i agree with each word, that's why i am not going to edit any of that pages back, but you should also mind that this other user is remove every contribution i make, without even a observation/explanation, that is breach of wikipedia's rules.122.169.17.113 (talk) 08:29, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) If you'd take a moment to examine the underlying conflict, you should hear waterfowl. For starters, the IP is hell-bent on preserving Justicejayant's edits. For more, see the relevant SPI, where similarly located 122... IPs are mentioned as having been used by Justicejayant. True, no comment was made about the IPs by the CU, but only as CU is not for use on IPs. An SPI would be useless for this reason and because the IP is dynamic; block it and he just hops to another. I had thought this would be obvious enough to resolve without dragging it to AN/I. ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 08:34, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Your assumptions have to do nothing with here, because by your sense, anyone who has the ip from 122.xxxxx should be blocked and not allowed to contribute? I think this dispute is already solved here.[12], No more need to be discussed. 122.169.17.113 (talk) 08:40, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PERM/R

Hi Armbrust! I think that we should also give out templates such as {{Rollbackgiven3}} to users who are granted rollback. Best, Electric Catfish 21:37, 31 July 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Don't think this is a good idea, as the template says "I have enabled rollback on your account" and "If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it." Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 21:39, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. {{Rollbackgiven2}} is more educational and doesn't say who enabled it or how to request it to be removed. However, it doesn't have the rollback logo. Also, {{Rollback not yet}} is also neutral and educational. Best, Electric Catfish 21:44, 31 July 2012 (UTC).[reply]
Yes these can be used. You could also create your own version, by rephrasing the problematic parts of {{Rollbackgiven3}}. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 21:48, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2012 July newsletter

We're approaching the beginning of 2012's final round. Pool A sees Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) as the leader, with 300 points being awarded for the featured article Bivalvia, and Pool B sees Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions) in the lead, with 10 good articles, and over 35 articles eligible for good topic points. Pool A sees New York City Muboshgu (submissions) in second place with a number of articles relating to baseball, while Pool B's Minnesota Ruby2010 (submissions) follows Grapple X, with a variety of contributions including the high-scoring, high-importance featured article on the 2010 film Pride & Prejudice. Ruby2010, like Grapple X, also claimed a number of good topic points; despite this, not a single point has been claimed for featured topics in the contest so far. The same is true for featured portals.

Currently, the eighth-place competitor (and so the lowest scorer who would reach the final round right now) has scored 332, more than double the 150 needed to reach the final round last year. In 2010, however, 430 was the lowest qualifying score. In this competition, we have generally seen scores closer to those in 2010 than those in 2011. Let's see what kind of benchmark we can set for future competitions! As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Olympic bid templates

Is there an easy way to combine all the Olympic templates into one TfD discussion? I'm not an expert on how it works but it would certainly be easier as I assume every comment will apply to every template and there is no sense in duplicated comments across all TfD entries. --Biker Biker (talk) 15:13, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Compaq Presario (family of articles)

Hi, I write to you based on my understanding of Wikipedia:Deletion review which I merely skimmed. 30 Jan 2012, you closed discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Compaq Presario 5000 with the judgment "merge to Compaq Presario". 12 Feb 2012, Compaq Presario was itself erased --replaced by redirect to Compaq. ({revision history}) I infer the concluding editor Alan Liefting is the one who had proposed Compaq Presario 5000 for deletion; he was the first to comment in the deletion discussion.

The current situation is, for example,

Compaq Presario V5000 (my point of entry) redirects to Compaq Presario 5000
Compaq Presario 5000 carries notice of the merge judgment and requests help completing the merge.
Talk: Compaq Presario also carries notice of the merge judgment, requests help, etc
Compaq Presario itself simply redirects to Compaq.

(I say "for example" because I guess there may be other "Compaq ..." articles and redirects affected but I have not searched for any other Compaq product.) --P64 (talk) 20:15, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, and what can I help you with? If you disagree with the redirection of Compaq Presario to Compaq, than you can undo it, as it wasn't a result of a deletion discussion. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 20:21, 11 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've blocked you for 72 hours for edit-warring. 3RR is the standard; you were up to 20RR. Quite frankly, you should know better. Ironholds (talk) 21:42, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, strike that; 2 weeks. I just saw your block log, and quite frankly, if you haven't understood after 3 blocks on this precise issue, 72 hours isn't going to cut it. Ironholds (talk) 21:45, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ironholds is correct, of course. This is totally unexpected from someone like you. You could have waited--no puppies were being strangled. What's worse is that you weren't even correct according to WP:MOSFLAG: if those (dumb) flags are to be used, they should be accompanied by the country's name. Better, of course, to not use flags at all. Drmies (talk) 22:17, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Just passing through but that is not correct. On first use we should be using "flag" not "flagicon" so as to show the country name. On subsequent uses, especially in charts, it is not necessary to have the country name per MOSFLAG. The way it's tagged onto the end as 66.199.245.66 has been doing looks silly and is not how most wiki articles would do it. Fyunck(click) (talk) 22:39, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That is not what MOSFLAG says: it doesn't mention any of those templates at all. Your "on subsequent uses" has no basis in policy either: MOSFLAG quite clearly indicates that the name need not be repeated in "nearby" uses, and that's quite a different matter. I wonder what it is with sports editors, that they want those flags in there all the time. Drmies (talk) 23:14, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually it doesn't matter whether a sports editor wants it or not. I don't particularly care one way or the other on the issue. But if it's there, on first use "flag" is supposed to be used so that it shows the country initials. After first use flagicon can be used. It is especially used in lists and tables. And yes, MOSFLAG mentions {{flag}} and {{flagicon}} SPECIFICALLY in this instance, so back off with the sports editor baloney and keep it cool. Fyunck(click) (talk) 23:39, 14 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, you are correct about those templates. As for the rest, well. Don't lose your cool, Fyunck. Drmies (talk) 01:47, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, Fyunck(click), I wish you good time by making all the tennis draw articles conform to this (before popping up my talk page.) Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 19:56, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved it back since the tournament begins in four days, so editors will begin cataloguing the results, so we need this in place. The article title is consistent with article titling guidelines i.e. XXXX Name of tournament where XXXX is the year. Betty Logan (talk) 01:21, 15 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 2 weeks for your disruption caused by edit warring and violation of the three-revert rule at Ronnie O'Sullivan. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Bbb23 (talk) 15:59, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Armbrust (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I think this block is disproportionate. The first two edits by the IP ([14] & [15]) both changed statistical information so it contradicted the source. Further edits ([16], [17], [18], [19], [20]) replaced a high quality RS with a user edited website. The IP also added the same user-edited source to another snooker article and was reverted by an editor independent to this dispute. The IP susbsequently tried to source the changes through an WP:SPS with [21]. After both of these sources were rightfully rejected on RS grounds (user edited databases and fansites are clearly not acceptable) the IP made a number of disruptive edits: [22], [23]. Whereas Armbrust has recently been justifiably blocked for engaging in an edit war, I do not think he is guilty of edit-warring in this case. I believe these reverts fall under WP:NOT3RR. Any reasonable interpretation of policy would agree these edits would have to be reverted on the grounds of being poorly sourced edits to a biography of a living person. I would have reverted all of these edits myself if I had been aware of them, so I think this block needs to be reviewed in regards to the nature of the reverts. Armbrust could have provided more helpful edit summaries because it looks like edit-warring at first glance, but on closer inspection I honestly think a 3RR exemption should apply in this case. In event that the block is upheld, I do think the duration is excessive given the fact this is an article about a living person and these edits would have had to come out on policy grounds. Betty Logan (talk) 19:03, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Firstly, it is not usual to consider unblock requests coming from users other than the blocked user, and for that reason I am surprised that several administrators have commented in support of the block but not declined this request. Secondly, we have to consider "do not edit war even if you believe you are right." Thirdly, we have to consider the editor's extensive history of blocks for edit warring, in view of which a much longer block is justified than otherwise might be considered for the same immediate reason. Finally, reading the comments on this page, there is clearly a consensus in support of the block, with a couple of dissenting voices. In fact, in view of the history, an indefinite block might not have been surprising, even in a case where there might be some degree of justice in the edits. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:52, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

  • I appreciate Betty's thorough analysis, but I reject the conclusion that the edits were exempt pursuant to BLP policy. The objective of that exemption is when the information being removed is "controversial", not just unsourced or poorly sourced. If I said that BLP A liked golf, and it was unsourced, I could not continuously remove that material just because it was unsourced. In addition, it's wiser to claim the BLP exemption in the edit summary, and it's wiser still not to use it at all except in egregious circumstances; WP:NOT3RR makes that fairly clear. I would also prefer to hear from Armbrust before considering an unblock or a reduction in duration. That said, I will take no action on this but let another admin review it.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:31, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • Having seen the edit histories here, I would suggest that a two week block for reverting ongoing IP disruption is way harsh. I'm not going to undo the block but as a fellow admin, I'd recommend it be shortened to a day or undone altogether. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:34, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • I would agree if I hadn't blocked him for pretty much the same thing barely 2-3 weeks ago. So far this year, he's been blocked 6 times for edit-warring or 3RR violations, and had rollback taken away because of it. Ambrust, you need to learn to take actions which are proportionate. If you're finding yourself having to revert a variety of accounts and IPs, page protection is thataway. If you're not able to learn from your mistakes (and so far I've seen no evidence that you can) it's not going to be userrights that get taken away next. Ironholds (talk) 21:10, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
        • I was the editor who reverted the IP's additions on Shaun Murphy's page, but only because of how the page looked [24], not because of the additions which we know are more accurate than what is currently there. But besides that what's to discuss? He gets blocked every month for this and still comes back and does it again. Reducing the block would almost be encouraging his constant blatant flouting of the rules. Spc 21 (talk) 23:44, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The fact remains though is that these sites are maintained by fans and would not get a through a GA review, so they really shouldn't be added to GA rated articles as sources. I realise that the information is currently dated and the IP was only trying to improve the article, but ultimately we don't get to set the rules on sources. Betty Logan (talk) 01:14, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Jeez not again. Armbrust, you are one of those editors whom I have tremendous respect for, and find your work on the various boards as insightful as any admin working there, but when it comes to articles on snooker, you just lose your mind. I don't want to see you get topic banned from the article type you love so much, and where you do so well. Why you convert from this insightful and dedicated almost admin, to Mr. Revert, I have no idea. It is literally Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde with you. Even when you are right, you know you are under a microscope since you just came off the block. I wish there was something I could say that would cure whatever it is that is causing this lapse of judgement, but I don't know the words. I can't blame Bbb23 for the block, which wasn't any longer than the previous block (and most admins would have doubled it), so I support and appreciate his restraint here. I'm not going to review the block officially (which is third party, thus problematic anyway) but know that if there was any possible way I could justify unblocking you, I would, but I can't. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 00:38, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry that it has come to this, but the block appears proportionate. EdJohnston (talk) 01:44, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(IAR) O jee Armbrust, wat heb je in godsnaam gegaan en weer gedaan? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:53, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • It will be good to have you back in the next day or so Armbrust, but you're really going to have to be more careful from now on, because the next block is probably going to be even longer. The most recent case with the dodgy sources at the O'Sullivan article cost you two weeks, and we could have just got the article semi protected. It's best if you raise these issues at the snooker project, or leave a message on my talk page if you need a third opinion. Betty Logan (talk) 23:47, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2012 August newsletter

The final is upon us! We are down to our final 8. A massive 573 was our lowest qualifying score; this is higher than the 150 points needed last year and the 430 needed in 2010. Even in 2009, when points were acquired for mainspace edit count in addition to audited content, 417 points secured a place. That leaves this year's WikiCup, by one measure at least, our most competitive ever. Our finalists, ordered by round 4 score, are:

  1. Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions) once again finishes the round in first place, leading Pool B. Grapple X writes articles about television, and especially The X-Files and Millenium, with good articles making up the bulk of the score.
  2. Wisconsin Miyagawa (submissions) led Pool A this round. Fourth-place finalist last year, Miyagawa writes on a variety of topics, and has reached the final primarily off the back of his massive number of did you knows.
  3. Minnesota Ruby2010 (submissions) was second in Pool B. Ruby2010 writes primarily on television and film, and scores primarily from good articles.
  4. Scotland Casliber (submissions) finished third in Pool B. Casliber is something of a WikiCup veteran, having finished sixth in 2011 and fourth in 2010. Casliber writes on the natural sciences, including ornithology, botany and astronomy. Over half of Casliber's points this round were bonus points from the high-importance articles he has worked on.
  5. Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) came second in Pool A. Also writing on biology, especially marine biology, Cwmhiraeth received 390 points for one featured article (Bivalvia) and one good article (pelican), topping up with a large number of did you knows.
  6. New York City Muboshgu (submissions) was third in Pool A. Muboshgu writes primarily on baseball, and this round saw Muboshgu's first featured article, Derek Jeter, promoted on its fourth attempt at FAC.
  7. Michigan Dana Boomer (submissions) was fourth in Pool A. She writes on a variety of topics, including horses, but this round also saw the high-importance lettuce reach featured article status.
  8. Canada Sasata (submissions) is another WikiCup veteran, having been a finalist in 2009 and 2010. He writes mostly on mycology.

However, we must also say goodbye to the eight who did not make the final, having fallen at the last hurdle: Russia GreatOrangePumpkin (submissions), England Ealdgyth (submissions), England Calvin999 (submissions), Poland Piotrus (submissions), North Carolina Toa Nidhiki05 (submissions), Florida 12george1 (submissions), Cherokee Nation The Bushranger (submissions) and North Macedonia 1111tomica (submissions). We hope to see you all next year.

On the subject of next year, a discussion has been opened here. Come and have your say about the competition, and how you'd like it to run in the future. This brainstorming will go on for some time before more focused discussions/polls are opened. As ever, if you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. BRD project

I have outlined a proposal for a potential project that you might be interested in at User:Betty Logan/BRD enforcer. If you are not interested then no worries, I'm just testing the waters at this stage to see how much interest there would be in such a co-ordinated action. Regarding image and DYK nomination

Hi Armbrust, I am just writing to say that I am happy for the Archange Nkumu image to be taken down and I do not really mind on that one. About my DYK nomination, I just wanted to ask you for some guidance as you say the hook isn't cited in the article, but it appears to me that it is, which makes me question my understanding of the word hook in that context anyway. If you could explain in more detail I would be happy to alter the article. Thanks for your time Mikeo34 (talk) 15:15, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well I have seen every reference on the page, and none of them contains any information about the age of Lu Haotian. Without this the hook fails the "cited with an inline citation in the article" criteria. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 16:00, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your comment on Unprotection request

Could you explain further what the issue is with fully protected articles and unprotection? I don't completely understand the relevant policy or your note on the unprotect request for the Oktay Sinanoğlu page. I should say that I don't really care about what happens to that article, but was surprised to find that articles could apparently be permanently locked from editing. Dialectric (talk) 08:56, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well the fact, that there was no problem on a fully protected article, doesn't mean anything, as fully protected pages can only be edited by admins. Armbrust, B.Ed. WrestleMania XXVIII The Undertaker 20–0 09:13, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"No fair use rationale"

Do you only go by the fact that it doesn't have a templated version?Ryulong (琉竜) 13:38, 2 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2012 September newsletter

We're over half way through the final, and so it is less than a month until we know for certain our 2012 WikiCup champion. Conradh na Gaeilge Grapple X (submissions) currently leads, followed by Canada Sasata (submissions), Wales Cwmhiraeth (submissions) and Scotland Casliber (submissions). However, we have no one resembling a breakaway leader, and so the competition is a long way from over. Next month's newsletter will feature a list of our winners (who are not necessarily only the finalists) and keep your eyes open for an article on the WikiCup in a future edition of The Signpost. The leaders are already on a par with last year's winners, but a long way from the huge scores seen in 2010. That said, a repeat of the competition from 2010 seems unlikely.

It is good to see that three-quarters of our finalists have already scored bonus points this round. This shows that, contrary to criticism that the WikiCup has received in the past, the competition does not merely incentivise the writing of trivial articles; instead, our top competitors are still spending their time contributing to high-importance articles, and bringing them to a high standard. This does a great service to the encyclopedia and its readers. Thank you, and good work!

The planning for next year's WikiCup is ongoing. Some straw polls have been opened concerning the scoring, and you can now sign up for next year's competition. Good luck! 2011 Premier League

You may wish to weigh in on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Snooker#Premier League 2011 status on wikipedia, Armbrust. Betty Logan (talk) 20:04, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

BRD enforcer

I've drafted out the proposal at User:Betty Logan/BRD enforcer#"Request for stable state" project proposal. Hopefully I've addressed any concerns people had, and this is the version that will go before the Wikiproject proposal committee. It's been streamlined a bit to focus on operation and the name has been changed, but other than that it's doing the same job. Anyway, this is a message I'm dorpping on everyone's page so they can check it out and make sure they are ok with it. Betty Logan (talk) 22:57, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The formal proposal is up and running at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Request for stable state. If you are still interested in supporting it you will need to add your name at the official proposal. Betty Logan (talk) 02:56, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Template

Could you please take a look at Template:Mrv2? When I try to use it, at Wikipedia:Move review, I end up with two extra braces }} at the end of the first line. You can click on the link Follow this link to today's log at Move review that uses it and see them in page preview. I am not sure where to take them out. Thanks. Apteva (talk) 01:26, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed the {{Mrv2}} template and the daily log page too. Armbrust TheHomonculus 04:51, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry

Hey, sorry about removing the content, I really don't know what happened there, I only meant to fix a minor spelling mistake. Maybe I clicked something wrong on twinkle or something. Once again, sorry for any trouble. AlexB531 (talk) 01:31, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Armbrust The Homonculus 01:33, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Armbrust, is this article still in development, because some of the years look mixed up to me? For instance, Hendry won the 92 world championship, and in the 92 Masters he beat John Parrott (Hallett was his oppponent in 1991). Betty Logan (talk) 12:14, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of old noms at FPC

Hi Armbrust, thanks for keeping things tidy at FPC. May I please just remind you to leave the closed nominations for three full days before removing them. In some instances, you are clearing them well before (example diff). Thanks. Julia\talk 11:54, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Will be me cautious next time. Armbrust The Homonculus 11:58, 28 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
