Welcome!

Hello, Amsphd, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

A request for peer review

Hello, Amsphd, Aquarius2018 here from our WikiFellows Wednesday cohort. Would you do me the kind favor peer review of the Clarke Tucker article I expanded before I migrate it over to the common space? I appreciate it. And, Please, do it at your own convenience. Thank you. Aquarius2018 (talk) 00:21, 4 August 2018 (UTC)Aquarius2018Aquarius2018 (talk) 00:21, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notes

Hi! Here are my notes:

  • The article occasionally reads like it's pro-Houlahan, so be very careful of this. Also, avoid any point of view statements like "important", since what's considered important will be relative to the reader. Other things to avoid are words like "passions" or "passion for", as these are seen as inherently promotional on Wikipedia since they're considered to be routine marketing speak. Basically, we want to make sure that this doesn't read like a website for the politician. Most of this is going to be just tweaking the writing here and there. I'd look over Gayatri's article on Fayrouz Saad, as she's done a good job of editing it for tone.
  • Something I do have to caution you on is that political nominees are not considered to be inherently notable per WP:POLOUTCOMES. What this means is that the article will need more coverage for Houlahan that doesn't deal with her running for the House of Representatives. The reason for this is that at present the coverage looks to be almost solely about her political campaign, so if she doesn't win the race it could be argued that Houlahan isn't notable outside of the run and that the article should be redirected into a list of candidates for this campaign. The POLOUTCOMES link gives a bit more information on this.

You've done well so far, so this just needs more polishing overall. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:34, 21 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
