Brianna's Peer Review

Hello! After reading your article draft, I have a few comments to make. I think it is great that you plan on adding the costs and benefits to the section "Extended courtship period". This will avoid bias within your final article. I also like how you plan to include animals other than birds, like the wild turkey species, in your final draft. Adding a section on lekking behaviour will be a great addition to the existing article; just be sure to include only neutral information. As well, it seems like you have a good set of sources to back up the information you will be adding! In terms of suggestions, I would recommend looking through the existing article "Courtship display" and adding any citations needed. I have found a couple of instances where citations would be beneficial. For example, in the section Agonistic behavior and courtship of Courtship display, the statements "In many cases, male courtship displays will cause forms of contest competition to develop. This is often seen within lek mating systems. For example, males will seek to obtain a certain spot or position to perform their courtship display. The best spots are regions of high contention as many males want them for themselves. Because of this direct conflict, agonistic encounters between males are fairly common" should be cited. Also, including information about the costs and benefits of courtship displays will ensure your final article remains unbiased towards if courtship displays are advantageous or not. So far, I think you have done a great job of outlining your contributions to the article, and I look forward to reading your final draft! Briannaking709 (talk) 20:53, 23 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Beth's peer review

Hi Alison, I think you have some good ideas on how to expand on the article courtship display. I think it's a good idea to discuss the cost and benefits of the extended courtship display. This will make the article more interesting. I like how you gave specific examples of the animals that display the behaviour. You have many good references which back up your information. Some advice I would give you is to add some more pictures of the courtship behaviour to the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bmw021 (talkcontribs) 02:34, 24 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
