Black maternal mortality in the United States (Peer Review) (Keejuan Harris)
Hello Alicia,
After reading your assigned article "Black maternal mortality in the United States," I was impressed at the depth the page presented data/information. Strong sources (such as the World Health Organization, NPR, ScienceDirect, etc) backed up concepts presented that verified the disproportionate amount of Black women in the US dying due to complications from child birth.
Arguments presented at times can be better supported. For example, abortion is listed as one of the causes of higher mortality rates for black women due to childbirth but sources that explicitly support this should be added to make the article more thorough.
Certain topics in the article could be expanded upon. In the section "Reproductive and sexual health and rights," mentioned a few health concerns severely impacting women living in low-income environments. Discussing more specific health concerns of women may expose readers to why mortality rates are higher for the group.
