The Non-GMO Project

Hi, I wanted to let you know that an edit you made was recently undone by another editor, Aircorn, as it was unsourced and written in the wrong voice. They also let me know that the article is sanctioned, which I'll go into below:

Sanctioned articles are articles on topics that tend to be heavily debated and edited on Wikipedia. The topic of GMOs is one of those areas, so as a result the content needs to be very carefully written and sourced - it needs to written as neutrally as possible and use the strongest possible sourcing. It's a very good idea to review this training module on editing medical related topics, as this topic can often brush up against that area. If content is reverted, as was the case here, it needs to be discussed on the article's talk page and the concerns met before anything is re-added.

On that note, the concerns by Aircorn were that you didn't use any sourcing, which is imperative for articles as anything unsourced can be challenged and removed. The sourcing also needs to be reliable, so it's important to make sure that the sourcing is strong - especially with a topic like GMOs. If you're unsure if something would be a good source, you can always ask me for advice and/or post on the article's talk page. It's also important that you write in a neutral third person voice and that if the material does contain anything that could be seen as an opinion or non-neutral, that it's something that was espoused in the source material and is also clearly attributed to the person(s) or organization making the claim. Be careful to avoid something coming across as being written in Wikipedia's voice - by which I mean that it sounds like Wikipedia is making a judgement call or taking a definitive stance on the subject matter, as Wikipedia should be a neutral party imparting information to the reader.

Thanks Shalor. I would just add that the majority of the conflict in this area relates around the health and safety of GMOs. Particular care needs to be taken when touching on this aspect. Regards AIRcorn (talk) 22:37, 4 October 2019 (UTC)
