Louisiana
For a slave from Kentucky be sold and sent to Louisiana was the dreaded being "sold down the river." Slaves working in sugar cane in Louisiana had a short and brutal life expectancy. Louisiana certainly should be categorized under 'slavery in the United States". The presence of some slave in New York in 1630 or 1790 or whenever does not remove the close relationship between slavery and those states which were known as slave states at the outbreak of the American Civil War. Can you understand there was a difference between, say, Massachusetts and Mississippi in terms of the status of slavery? And if you hope for your essay to ever become more than than your personal viewpoint expressed in an essay, you should invite all interested editors to participate in the editing of it, as is implied by the claim at the top that "it represents the views of 'one or more editors. In fact only you have edited it, and you call for others to just make suggestions to you on this talk page rather than actually editing the essay. Edison (talk) 02:11, 29 August 2010 (UTC)

- Yes - it is a request that I have made to editors but since this is a wiki I cannot stop anyone from editing it. However, since it is an essay in my namespace editors would realise that it is my opinion and would refrain from altering it. Proofreading
You should give your essay a good proof reading and remove errors such as "Also, it is a more convenient way for those with a slow internet connection to home in on ant article of interest." (italics added). At first I pictured the article as looking like a little ant seen from a high viewpoint. In "However since most of the US states had official census figures showing the presence slaves there is no need to add Louisiana to Category:Slavery in the United States.[1] " you should add the word "of" before "slaves." Various sentences would benefit from commas. The sentence 'A method of determining whether an article should be included in a category is by asking the question "Should this article be in this category?"' really does not say anything.
