Some questions about edits to Yogurt

Akhooha: Thanks for the polite inquiry posted below. Regarding #1: let's find an English reference for that statement. #2: when there is no good English source, then foreign language sources are ok, but I think we can find an English reference. (1) Since the statement "Some countries require yogurt to contain a certain amount of colony-forming units of bacteria" still stands in the text of the article, it would seem that a citation that does not refer to legally defined "certain amounts" is not backing up that statement. The reference I used specifically refers "total of at least 10 million colony forming units of microorganisms" and would seem to be more appropriate.

(2) As for your comment, "Not helpful for the English encyclopedia", was that because the title of the source was in German (I had forewarned the reader that the document (which is an official Swiss gov't document) was (in German); or were you objecting altogether to a non-English source? I've seen plenty of English WP articles with references in foreign languages, so I can't figure out what your objection is. By the way, Swiss gov't docs are available in German, French, and Italian, but unfortunately not in English.

I'm really not at all qualified to pass judgement on Tausug Arabic script. All I know about it is what I've just read in Tausug language#Arabic script. Some issues, however, do come to mind: First of all, what sound is the glyph "ꞌ" supposed to represent? Secondly, it looks like there's an inconsistency either in the Latin transliteration or the Tausug transliteration in the example you gave (which came from the Tausug article), i.e. the word sin is shown as

سِـڠ which, according the chart should read as sing. One would expect سِن. Thirdly, you've transliterated in as إن which is correct if it were Arabic, but according to the info in the article, in in Tausug should be written ئِن or, (as appears in later examples in the article) ئِـڠ. Looks like boundaries between "n" and "ng" are rather loose... One last thing: for manga you've got مَنغَ which is right I suppose if the word were [man ga] (مَنگَ could also be right). But if the word were actually [ma nga], then it would need to be written مَنـڠَ. Other than what I've brought up, everything else looks pretty much ok. Hope I've been of some help. I'll be happy to take a look at your attempt at Maranao, but first can you answer my query regarding your first request: "what sound is the glyph "ꞌ" supposed to represent?"

P.S. --- One mistake I see right away is that you're using نغ when you should be using ڠ to transliterate "ng". For example, you've written "botong" as بُتُنغ and it should be بُتُـڠ . Akhooha (talk) 17:03, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Also, you're using a hamza (ء) to transliterate a short (e). According to the chart you've linked to, you should use a sukun above the preceding consonant. For example, you've written "pekebabayaan" as پءكءبَبَيَان when it should be (according to the chart) پْكْبَبَيان. As for that chart, I'd be a little leery of it ---- although it shows a short "e", a hamza (ʔ) and an "æ", none of those show up in the Latin transliteration of the example provided.Akhooha (talk) 17:51, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for the snark in my reply, I was a bit frazzled after all that editing. I admit that I am obsessive/compulsive about these things; I've been getting a reply together for you with a list of tools and got caught up in editing other things (not the first time). I will get that to you, but at the moment I'm in a state of shock at fantastic user KylieTastic's ignoring all the work I've done, and getting on me for using a script because it introduced some errors, which I should have checked for. No offense taken. I can understand your being frazzled from all that work. In your comment on the article's talk page you mentioned using google docs for simple "find and replace" functions --- is there some reason you'd prefer that over MS Word? I find that MS Word can do that very nicely and is a lot more responsive than google docs. Another question: your conversion of all the weird "at"s into "p"s and "pp"s was obviously more than a simple "find and replace" action.
