Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Agalberth. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:54, 6 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comments and direction. I am a Research Assistant for Dr. Inouye, and I have never contributed to Wikipedia prior to this. Some information left on her Wikipedia page is factually incorrect, and I would like to propose edits to address these inaccuracies. As someone with COI to Dr. Inouye's Wiki page, what is the correct way to address these inaccuracies to ensure they are addressed? Thank you again for your time and guidance. Thanks for the reply Agalberth and for explaining your situation. Well, the good news is that you are already doing a pretty good job by using Wikipedia drafts. This is something you should continue to use for any topic you have a conflict of interest (COI) with. You should not be directly editing articles you are connected to. Instead, use the WP:Talk page and use the edit request template. I see you have already declared your COI status on Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) but I fixed it up so it is properly formated. Feel free to WP:Ping me with any questions you have regarding your situation. In the meantime, I suggest reading Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.
