The bot and BLP

I just noticed that because the bot quotes from the error it reports it comes close to violating BLP. See here. Not sure if anything can be done about that. CBWeather, Talk, Seal meat for supper? 20:42, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

Flag issue

Dear BracketBot, I followed the policies about not adding flagicons to the infoboxes, because it can be distracting and may contain additional information by clicking on the flag and show more info about the country, state, or territory when working on important subjects. But I have discovered a flag in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup page. It's seems it has a template {{flag|Australia}} to indicate a host country of this tournament. But here's a question, should I remove this template, or try to keep it as it is? Please talk on my talk page if you have a possible answer. Thanks.

Starland Vocal Band

I'm not sure this is the place to contact anyone,I have added some information to Starland Vocal Band not taken anything away,I have read the Wiki info on SVB over the years and since the band members and some of their former associates are friends of mine,I have tried to add a little more information such as updates and I did edit the label for the Christmas At Home Lp,as it was recorded on Breaker records and not Windsong as reported, please excuse my errors if there are anymore,I will fix them as they are pointed out to me,I am the Administrator for Starland's facebook private group which the members and their family's are in as well as the Starlandandmore69 youtube channel that Bill Danoff has given his approval and he has been very gracious in sending me recordings that were never released to add to the channel, thank you for your patience. My name is PiperhSkye Moppit (talk) 14:25, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

This is the place to contact A930913, who operates BracketBot. Unfortunately the information you added to the band article was not based on reliable sources such as articles about the band written by newspapers or reputable music magazines. Such sources are required to allow our readers to verify the content. Furthermore, the tone of your edits was unduly promotional. For these reasons I have reverted your edits. Hi BracketBot, thanks to detect the error of List of unpaired brackets found on the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Malan_(computer_scientist) in Research, Publication and Activities. Any further notification, message, suggestion and knock to make correction will be highly appreciated. Hasanuzzaman T Shemul (talk) 02:43, 19 September 2014 (UTC)

Re: Indian locomotive class WDM-3A#Technical specifications

{|border=1 to be left alone, removing the { would have disastrous results, the other issue {{convert|3,300|hp|kW|abbr=on|lk=on}} had already been corrected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peter Horn (talkcontribs) 03:01, September 20, 2014‎

Afican Union's site vandalism

Dear BracketBot, I wrote this note to inform you that an editor is performing acts of vandalism in the website of the "African Union" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Union. Please I would appreciate if you could tell me who I should report this action?, the Board Index name is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Knisfo

This editor is changing again and again Infobox information concerning the official languages of the "African Union". He is editing that are 4 Official Languages (Arabic, English, French and Portuguese) without any source of information, when Official Languages of the Organization (attached in this PDF information) are 6; (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Swahili) thanks and regards.

Protocol on Amendments to the Constitutive Act of the African Union: Article 11, Official Languages. (PDF) Enciclopediaenlinea (talk) 18:01, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

@Enciclopediaenlinea: This doesn't look like vandalism to me but like a content dispute; the article talk page would be the place to discuss it. User:Knisfo is not claiming there are four official languages, but four working languages. And the official languages aren't just six; they also include "any other African language". I can see that focusing on the languages actually in use may be more helpful than giving the official list, which apparently is more an issue of symbolism than practical relevance. Huon (talk) 23:49, 20 September 2014 (UTC)

Dear Huon, User:Knisfo Is not giving accurate information on the Infobox official language of the African Union, as the AU has no 4 working languages, African Union has 6 official languages and "any African language." Either are official languages may be used as a working language. Here is a video from Youtube where it takes place in one of the Summit of the African Union, the announcement of the formalization of the Spanish in the organization. Wikipedia is not giving accurate information on this issue because a publisher called User:Knisfo to change without any real source is allowed, just do not provide any evidence of his claim.

Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang, "Announces Spanish as Official Language of African Union"

The announcement happened during a press conference on 30 July 2011 immediately following the third day of the 17th Ordinary African Union Summit at the Sipopo International Conference Center on the island of Bata in the Republic of Equatorial Guinea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXYtVDz29wc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.103.69.206 (talk) 01:39, 21 September 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Enciclopediaenlinea (talkcontribs)

Again, the article talk page is the appropriate place for such a discussion. I have left a comment there: Talk:African Union#Official languages redux. Huon (talk) 17:01, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

DefconBot note

I took a look on my talk page, it looks like DefconBot just upgraded to level 2 as a high risk level of vandalism across Wikipedia, so I need it change it back to level 5 then I'm okay with it. --Allen talk 20:40, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

I do not think interfering with the bot's settings in such a way would be a good idea. Why would you use your subjective opinion of the level of vandalism instead of the bot's measurements? Huon (talk) 01:18, 24 September 2014 (UTC)

Mistake in Stephen Sartarelli article

You were right: there was a syntax error in the double brackets of the External links section. I corrected the error and now it's okay. Thank you for the warning. Good work. Chemako0606 (talk) 21:23, 27 September 2014 (UTC)

On the Internet somebody knows you're a bot

Got a chuckle out of the "unmatched parenthesis" message from a bot. Of course, the referenced article just used the smiley face emoticon as part of its title. Sometimes, a bot is just a bot, even on the Internet. But it's funny that the objection concerned an edit in On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog. 12.111.217.25 (talk) 17:18, 29 September 2014 (UTC)

Smileys are notoriously difficult to detect for the bot; I don't think there's an easy fix. Luckily smileys are rare in the encyclopedia, so we probably have to live with those false positives. 18:39, 29 September 2014 (UTC)
