Political funding in New Zealand

Thanks for indicating a missing bracket in the above article. I shall fix it! Khnassmacher (talk) 10:26, 3 November 2014 (UTC)

You're welcome, thanks for fixing the parenthesis. Huon (talk) 00:39, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

QUICK HELP

Hi and thanks for watch out the page Shaan. I just want to know how I add the references in my information and also in the page. You can help me on my page. ArNab_MACHO_ROCKSS (talk) 6:17, 3 November (UTC)

I have replied at your talk page. Huon (talk) 00:39, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Between talkpage post and opt-out

The talkpage message is a bit much, how about providing the option to receive WP:notifications instead? 85.178.202.80 (talk) 09:43, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

That's currently impossible for a bot to achieve. Also, the talk page message points out the specific problem and is rather helpful in fixing it. Furthermore, unlike a notification the talk page message also is visible by others who may then decide to fix the brackets. Huon (talk) 23:26, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

BracketBot – 86.146.235.52

I don't really know what you are talking about, I've never even searched for this movie. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.146.235.52 (talk) 19:05, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

If you take a look at the message's date stamp you'll see it was left in May. Probably your IP address was assigned to someone else at that time; it definitely made the edit the bot's note it about, which has long since been reverted. If you don't want to receive messages intended for others, you may want to create an account. Huon (talk) 23:26, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

"October 2014" type section heads for BracketBot

Hi. I'm wondering if you could make a minor change to the way BracketBot leaves messages? I'm frequently coming into contact with user talk pages where BB's left messages, labeling them like "October 2014". My initial reaction to this, every time, is this is some sort of vandalism warning or other type of warning, and depending on the user I find myself clicking to that section to find out what is up. Many, many editors use the same style warning, and I think there are script assisted vandalism removal edits that do the same. Could you possibly modify the headline it leaves to something like "October 2014 (BracketBot notice)" or some variant? Thanks for your time and attention, --Hammersoft (talk) 15:13, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

This is deliberate. The idea is that editors dealing with vandalism (such as yourself) may be more likely to encounter the notices and fix the bracket issues - vandals obviously won't do so themselves. Huon (talk) 19:58, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

New categories for ReferenceBot

Hi there! I submitted some categories for ReferenceBot to notify editors about back in December 2013. Since then, some more error categories have been cleaned out or have stabilized and are ready to be added to ReferenceBot's list.

Here is a list of new errors to notify editors about.

"Category:CS1 errors: arXiv‎" --> "an arXiv error (help)"

"Category:CS1 errors: authorlink‎" --> "an authorlink error (help)"

"Category:CS1 errors: coauthors without author‎" --> "a coauthors without author error (help)"

"Category:CS1 errors: DOI‎‎" --> "a DOI error (help)"

"Category:CS1 errors: LCCN‎" --> "an LCCN error (help)"

"Category:CS1 errors: OL‎‎" --> "an OL error (help)"

"Category:CS1 errors: PMC‎" --> "a PMC error (help)"

"Category:CS1 errors: PMID‎" --> "a PMID error (help)"

"Category:Pages with archiveurl citation errors‎" --> "an archiveurl error (help)"

"Category:Pages with citations having redundant parameters‎" --> "a redundant parameter error (help)"

"Category:Pages with citations using unsupported parameters‎‎" --> "an unsupported parameter error (help)"

"Category:Pages with ISBN errors‎‎‎" --> "an ISBN error (help)"

Let me know if you need anything else. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:41, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

I restored this section from the archive. It has not been resolved yet. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:58, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
Sorry, must have slipped by me when I was busy. Updated, so if you wouldn't mind making sure it's doing what it's supposed to be doing. According to the comments in my code, the following categories are left:

Much appreciated, 930913 {{ping}} 11:24, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

A930913, thanks! I'll check on the bot's edits and let you know if I see anything amiss. I'll keep this page on my watchlist for a while as well to see if I can identify any false positives. As for those other categories, I don't see them being added to ReferenceBot's list any time soon. They aren't really being worked on, as far as I know. – Jonesey95 (talk) 04:30, 3 November 2014 (UTC)
I checked on a sample of the bot's notices from the last few days, and I did not see any false positives. I haven't seen any reported here either. Thanks for providing this valuable service. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:04, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Imelda Staunton typo fixed

Dear BBot, I have fixed the typo. You are a star. That is all. Oh, except... (see right, for I don't know how to centre the pic)

Please accept this kitten with my thanks

519Clarke regarding New Bilibid Prison

I am 519Clarke am have been trying to edit the Article on New Bilibid Prison. On both occasions the addition have been removes and I don't know why. I am new to Wikipedia and find the technical terms difficult to get to groups with so please tell me in term I may understand. David Clarke 20:32, 7 November 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 519Clarke (talkcontribs)

The book you cite as a source is not reliable by Wikipedia's standards; it's not an indication that the prisoners whose testimonies it recounts are notable. Furthermore, the content you wrote reads rather promotional. Huon (talk) 00:56, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

Political funding in Ireland

Sorry, I am unable to make sense of the hints given to errors. Can anybody help? I'd appreciate that! Khnassmacher (talk) 17:30, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

Fixed by Mandruss. You had a remnant <ref> tag that wasn't part of a reference. Huon (talk) 19:39, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

"November 2014" type section heads for BracketBot (redux)

I asked about this before but did not receive a response and BracketBot's behavior is the same? Thoughts? --Hammersoft (talk) 14:44, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

@Hammersoft: The previous answer is here. A930913 explained that another benefit is that if someone who gets tagged for vandalism caused a bracket error, that edit is likely to have also been vandalism - so the vandal-fighters are directed to edits that likely should also be reverted. Huon (talk) 17:40, 13 November 2014 (UTC)
  • But plenty of people who are not vandals are receiving these messages. --Hammersoft (talk) 19:35, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Block bot

I can block DPL bot and some other bot which used to appear for some minor problem. Is there a way to block ReferenceBot? --Tom (LT) (talk) 01:10, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

@LT910001: ReferenceBot has an extremely low false-positive rate and is unlikely to ever notify you when there wasn't a genuine problem. That said, it is exclusion-compliant; if you don't want it to notify you about problems your edits caused, you can use the {{bots}} template on your talk page to tell ReferenceBot not to edit it. For now I've fixed the issues the bot notified you about. Huon (talk) 14:02, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
