ReferenceBot - Mitchesbaby64

Hi there. This is being sent to you in reference to possible deletions by you on the ypsilanti, michigan page. I introduced two very well known people from ypsilanti, mi. I know this for two reasons: One, because I am from ypsi. Two, because all of what I have contributed can be verified, via Wikipedia.

It is my hope that you will not delete any verifiable info. What I have contributed is about people in the African American community. I hope that Wikipedia is not indiscriminately selecting contributions from that community and choosing them for deletion. If you are truly researching my edits, you will find that there is no reason for deletion. But, time will tell, huh? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mitchesbaby64 (talkcontribs) 22:55, July 1, 2014‎ (UTC)

@Mitchesbaby64: ReferenceBot is an automated program that doesn't delete anything but only notifies human editors when their edits may cause reference errors, as happened when you removed parts of a reference with this edit. That was fixed by Bgwhite. Regarding the content you added, you did not provide a link to the Ashford & Simpson article, and you ignored the notice within the Ypsilanti article according to which the fact that Ashford is associated with Ypsilanti requires a reliable source and that other entries may be removed immediately. The burden of evidence rests with the editor who wants content included. For comparison, Lowell Perry was also recently added to the list of notable inhabitants of Ypsilanti, and that article cites a reliable source for the association. Thus I tidied up Perry while removing Ashford - the issue is not skin color (of which I wouldn't have been aware if you hadn't pointed it out) but reliable sources. Besides, even with a reliable source the amount of content about Ashford was far too much - a link to the biographical article and a one-sentence summary should do for the Ypsilanti list. Say this one?

I have commented out the fair useimage you put in the barnstar on the user page of HJ Mitchell, as we cannot have fair use images in userspace. Perhaps you can find a suitable fair use image to use, I am sure there are some out there. --kelapstick(bainuu) 14:08, 6 July 2014 (UTC)

DefconBot

In this month, DefconBot has never changed the defcon level to 1 or 2, and it has been at 3 for a grand total of 8 hours this month. It's been at 5 for more than half the time. Isn't this a bit contradictory of the percentage level on User:DefconBot? Thanks, Lixxx235Got a complaint? 05:27, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Further to this, DefconBot has not edited since midday 15 July. Can it be restarted or must we return to manual updates? BethNaught (talk) 16:02, 17 July 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I noticed this as well. I think it's an effect of the decline of Wikipedia, coupled with the summer holidays starting. I ought to recalculate the boundaries, but this takes time as I've not made a one click button for it yet, and I don't have much time of recent. If someone else wants to calculate them, a CSV (datetime, mEPM, CVS, RPM) from April to now is available here. 930913 {{ping}} 16:18, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Sfolksss

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drumline_(film)

My drumline edit was deleted. Everything I posted was accurate. 1 Atlanta A&T University was based Clark Atlanta University and Morris Brown College. Both of which are part of Atlanta University Center. 2 both of which are HBCU universities and colleges respectively. 3 NC A&T is also an HBCU college and is where the name comes from. Sources: I was the drumline commander at my school and we had to learn all this as well as about other rival schools for the Honda Battle of the bands classic Sfolksss (talk) 00:15, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

  • No, your edit was not deleted (until just now): BracketBot only notified you of an incorrect bracket, that's all. For the rest, see your talk page. Drmies (talk) 01:35, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

"Categories: Wikipedians who have opted out of BracketBot messages"

Hello there. You're responsible for BracketBot? Great--thanks for making it. However, I do have one question. The documentation page says it creates "no visible output", but it does: my talk page now has a category at the bottom, and I don't want that category. Can you make it disappear? Thanks, and toodles, Drmies (talk) 16:57, 20 July 2014 (UTC)

Done. The category was not added by the template. Huon (talk) 17:43, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
@Drmies: ReferenceBot and BracketBot, while both operated by A930913, are different bots and don't react to the same opt-out template, nor to the same opt-out category. ReferenceBot has an extremely low false-positive rate, so there's next to no chance of getting a message unless there is a genuine problem you may want to fix. BracketBot is much more prone to misinterpret things. Huon (talk) 17:40, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
Huon, now I feel really stupid! But I'm also pleased, since a. ze problem is solved and b. I learned something. Thanks! Drmies (talk) 20:08, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thank you, BracketBot! Yeah, there was an error and I corrected it. Anyway, I have created this article Draft:ACC Fast Track Countries Tournament. I have also provided necessary links related to this article. Will you please review it and approve the article? Looking forward to your reply.

There is currently a backlog of over 1,300 drafts awaiting review. Is there any reason yours is more urgent than the others? That said, all your references are links to the Asian Cricket Council's website, not independent sources. We need independent coverage to establish that this tournament is notable enough for an article. Huon (talk) 18:59, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

opt out not enabled?

He A93, could you point me to the discussion regarding opt out from your Reference bot notifications? L.tak (talk) 16:16, 23 July 2014 (UTC) L.tak (talk) 16:16, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

I don't think there ever was a formal discussion on ReferenceBot opt-out, but since that bot has a near-perfect record of avoiding false positives, it's highly probable you'll only get notified if one of your edits indeed caused a citation error of some kind. Huon (talk) 22:14, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Vada icons

Hi there A930913, I just noticed that Vada was using the old Nuvola icon set that Huggle 2 was using. Could we get someone to design a new icon set? I could help if needed. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 21:20, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
