Thanks

Hi referencebot, thanks for reminding me about the error edit. I have undone it and I hope it is no longer causing an error. SparrowHK (talk) 08:49, 9 December 2014 (UTC)SparrowHK

@SparrowHK: You may want to check out Help:Referencing for beginners; the video at that page explains how to easily create nicely-formatted footnotes. The parameters of citation templates such as {{cite web}} bear their names for a reason; "title" should be the title of the work, "first" should be the author's first name, "url" should be the URL of a web source, while there's a separate "page" parameter for page numbers. Trying to construct a page number out of a first name and an URL won't work. Huon (talk) 13:24, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

Bracketbot message

Hey - I'm wondering if Bracketbot's message should be linking to syntax (programming languages) rather than syntax. What do you think? "Pepper" @ 21:45, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks from me too ReferenceBot. I'll get source documentation back into my article just as soon as I can get too it--may be a day or two.--Friend of Prlitecky — Preceding unsigned comment added by Prlitecky (talkcontribs) 18:51, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

@Prlitecky: I'm not entirely sure what that page is meant to be, but I don't think it's in the right place. Some of the content could possibly be used to improve our coverage of Arnold Schwarzenegger, but I don't think we should have a separate article on this one aspect of his career. Defconbot

I wanted to ask you if you could track the number of reverts that cluebot NG has made. You could then divide that by the number of edits, and you could report that as the amount of vandalism. Thanks!Creeper919 (talk) 00:19, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

@Creeper919: DefconBot tracks absolute vandalism (based on reverts by ClueBot NG) to give the defcon value. You might be interested in this tool though, that tracks vandalism in relation to reverts. Am I Needed To Counter Vandalism?
If you want to come up with other metrics, you can use my live stat tool. 930913 {{ping}} 12:44, 12 December 2014 (UTC)
From what you say, this new AmINeeded tool could be very useful, as Defcon tends to just reflect the daily rise and fall of traffic and doesn't necessarily tell us if patrolling is keeping up with the need or not. Will it be publicised? What measures is it based on? Can it be displayed as a handy small icon on a user page rather than a full screen?: Noyster (talk), 20:05, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

DefconBot Dead In The Water?

It looks like DefconBot is down. Contribs show nothing since 7am my time and page edit history a similar story. For the meantime we can live without it and just update manually if necessary! CJ Drop me a line!Contribs 22:50, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

Actually looks like everything is fine and dandy over at WP:Administrators noticeboard/Incidents#User:DefconBot is down. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! CJ Drop me a line!Contribs 22:56, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

October 2014

"Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Charles Cornwallis, 4th Baron Cornwallis may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page."

>> Thanks for fixing it. Worc63 (talk)

You're welcome, though the bot actually fixing the issue wasn't BracketBot but BG19bot. BracketBot only notifies editors; it doesn't edit articles. Huon (talk) 02:12, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
