Have you considered making an account?

You should make an account, probably; it is harder to follow extended discussions with an IP address, and while they're not supposed to people do tend to give a bit less weight to what an editor without an account says. Additionally, there are some parts of the site you cannot edit without an established account. --Aquillion (talk) 09:50, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have considered it, but (A) I only infrequently edit wikipedia, and (B) an interaction with one such editor previously has made me out of stubborn protest desire to continue to edit Wikipedia from an IP address instead! I appreciate the message however, and it's nice to know that Wikipedia alerts me even as an IP user when I get a message on my talk page. 78.105.218.134 (talk) 10:02, 17 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
