Hello, I'm Donner60. Your recent edit to Italy appears to have added incorrect information, so I removed it for now. If you believe the information was correct, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Donner60 (talk) 03:03, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
I am striking the above message because the information was not incorrect. I reverted at edit to an infobox but this accompanying template message did not fit the situation - as unfortunately occasionally happens. The edits in question concern what information should be included in a specific infobox. Infoboxes have been a source of controversy for the project both in general and as to the infoboxes in specific articles. The style guidelines for infoboxes are somewhat general, as to certain points. They also do not seem to have been universally followed as to at least some categories of infoboxes. So individual infoboxes sometimes become the subjects of discussion on talk pages or at Wikiprojects or perhaps even other noticeboards and the consensus may turn out to be to have a variation. Wikipedia:Infoboxes and linked pages; Wikipedia:Manual of Style; Wikipedia:Wikiprojects.
I am sorry that I did not leave a more specific message such as this. I am glad that you brought this to my attention on my talk page and that I could strike this message. While I think the discussion may involve the possible number of additions and their pertinence to the modern state, there are other points to be considered. With just one edit on the page and not being an expert in what has become a complicated niche of the project, I will leave it to you and others to work on.

Notice

Hello, I am trying to edit the Italy article. I have left a message in the talk section and on one user's talk section. My message can be seen there. I do not know who else to consult regarding the edits I have made. No one really gave a reason as to why my edits were removed. They were not incorrect.

Here is the message I left in the talk section "I recently edited the Italy article regarding the formation of the nation. In it, I added Ancient Rome (Kingdom, Empire, and Western Empire). However, these were removed several times. I thought it was evident that Ancient Rome was important in the development of Italy, so I did not include any source. The reason I made this edit was because other nations have ancient kingdoms listed in their formation and are not removed, such as Iran, China, Japan, Greece, etc. Here is a good source: Roman Italy. I don't see why other nations are allowed to have their ancient civilizations listed, yet Italy cannot."

I suggest you at least repeat this on the noticeboard even if you do not want to carry it any further than that. Otherwise someone (in particular, an administrator, who may or may not look at this page) may think you have no reason for your changes and in effect are defaulting on the difference of opinion or dispute. This could lead an administrator to briefly block on your ability to edit, which in view of your explanation would be undeserved in my opinion. Or if no one posts on the page, it may be dropped, or an administrator might look at the various talk pages. A suggestion, for what it is worth. Donner60 (talk) 04:32, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I was reported by one user for this, so I will repost this there.

Warned for edit warring at Italy

You've been warned as the result of a complaint at the edit warring noticeboard. You may be blocked if you revert again at Italy unless you have received a prior consensus for your change on the article talk page. Let me know if you have any questions. Opinions may differ as to the genuineness of the stated continuity of ancient and modern nation states. This is to be settled by consensus on each individual article. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 15:25, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
