Dear Fang Aili

my first try to get an article into Wiki and you delete it as fast as i put it in. I hope that it was an automatic delete process as you could not have read and reviewed in that time. I presume that I must have upset some protocol. I have created a website for Glen Onwin a highly respected and well known Artist(within the UK art circles). Should you wish to see his web it is http://www.onwin.co.uk. When drafting my submission I looked and followed the format of such other artists as Anthony Gormley, Richard Long and Damien Hirst amongst others. And thought that I had got the format right.

Should I had crossed the system Advice in simple on technical computer terms would be appreciated.

Steve

Hello Steve. It was deleted because it was a copyright violation. Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, such as that at http://www.onwin.co.uk/CV.htm. If you wish to create an article about this person, please do so in your own words. Thank you, Fang Aili talk 19:10, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hey you are quick - the website and all the words are by Glen and I and are in the public domain on the website. So there is no copywrite violation. I thought I had ticked the right box! what do I do next?

Thanks for prompt reply I thought I had replied but cannot see it so here goes again ( I told you I was new to this) What I though I had said was that all the work is by Glen and I and when submitting I thought I had ticked a box that said there were no copyright issues. As I see it it is an edit from his website, that I created for him, and therefore it is already in the public domain. Steve

You're doing fine!
The first step would be to read this page and find out if Glen is notable according to Wikipedia's guidelines. If you think he is, the second step would be to add something to your webpage, like "The contents of this page are released to the public domain". Then the content will be usable wherever. Thanks for words of encouragement :-) I have added the suggested words to the LINK column so they will appear on every page. As for being Notable if you Google his name you get at least 10 pages of reference to him so I think he qualifies on that account. I would have liked to have included Glen Onwin in "List of British artists From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" but don't know how to hence his own page. I would also like to include a few examples of his work within the document is this easy? Can I do a word doc with a few examples and upload that? As always advice from my new found guru is welcome. Steve

Glen Onwin (artist) - style tags

Hi 12. I added some tags to this page, pointing out that itsstyle needs some work to read like an encyclopedia article. If you need some ideas, browse around other articles about similar artists and see how they are written.

Also, be aware of the issues involved when you have a close relationship with the topic of an article which you wish to edit.

Thanks, and happy editing. Here's a good set of links which you may find helpful, and some kind thoughts:

Help

1am12uknow 08:38, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure who I am talking to now but if one of the Moderators is there I have noticed that whilst I was trying to upload my original effort I seem to have created the following page that (a PDF Doc page) can now be deleted but I cannot see how I can do that. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Image:Glen_Onwin.pdf&action=edit

{{helpme}} I am still trying to insert some pictures that show the Art work - I need the early learning version !! I also added Onwins name to the Bristish Artist Page (1946) but that seems to link to a balnk page - how do I link to the page I have created? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_artists is the link

steve

Sorry, I cannot help you because your question is too confused. Please explain more clearly. If you want to create an internal link to an article, you must place two brackets around its exact name, e.g. "[[Cheese]]" yields the link Cheese. See Help:Link for more help.
