Security issues
Bit.ly has been reported on some tech forums as being dangerous for a few reasons, such as obscuring the real origins or server locations of email malware (phishing attacks etc). Why is there no discussion of the security risks of using shortened URLs, or any URL-obscuring schemes? This whole article at present reads almost like an advertisement for the company.
This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users.
