About Me

Disclosure

From August 14 2015 to November 10 2015, I edited as User:White Arabian mare and racked up about 2100 edits. However, I lost my password for that account and without email, had no choice but to abandon the account and create this one. In between I did use my IP address and an alternate account, User:White Arabian mare alt. I was told that there was a possibility my account had been hacked, as well. If I ever lose my password again, though, I will not edit until I can get it back using email.

I would also like to note here, for the record, that any accounts other than the two named above are not me, even if the names are similar. (I decided to disclose this after I noticed a user who has no relation to me but has a similar name, White Arabian Filly on Firestones.) I don't use this username for other sites, either.

Origin of username

Some of you probably want to know why my username is WHITE Arabian Filly, and not Gray Arabian Filly, since there are almost no true white Arabians.

When I was a horseless kid, my ultimate dream horse was a gray Arabian mare who had turned pure snow white. I got the idea from several sources, most notably the Black Stallion series by Walter Farley and King of the Wind by Marguerite Henry. I didn't realize the difference between white and gray, so I referred to the ones that looked white as white.

Then as a tween, I wrote a couple of wish-fulfilment stories starring a white Arabian mare named Crystal and her owner, who was basically a souped-up version of me. In one particular story, the horse was stolen and I (the rider) jumped her over a four-foot barbwire fence to escape the thief. (Huh, that sounds a lot like the plot of one of the Saddle Club books. Perhaps I should try to get it published.)

Full disclosure: I do not actually own a white Arabian mare, although I'd like to someday. I do own a mustang/Quarter Horse cross bay gelding.

You can call me WAF for short.

Editing Habits

I'm liable to be logged on any time between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Central Standard Time. I live on a farm and spend a minimum of three hours outside each day (sometimes much more), so it may be a little while before I can get back online sometimes.

I normally edit horse-related articles but I will sometimes edit on other topics that are interesting. Or if I find an article with problems, I'll edit it.

If I ever suddenly disappear from Wikipedia, it'll probably be for one of the following reasons.

  1. I may go inactive if Wikipedia starts to require an email address to edit. I don't have email, so I'll have to go AWOL until I get it if this ever happens. (I'm hoping it doesn't; there are too many sites that require your personal information already.)
  2. I may get sick or hurt, in which case I'll try to return as soon as I'm better.
  3. I may be unable to get online at all, due to a power outage, internet meltdown, or other situation beyond my control.
  4. I may be on vacation or taking a business trip; if any of my novels are ever published or artwork is ever sold, I may very well get to go on a promotion tour.

Personal info

I ride my horse most days, unless it's bad weather or something happens. I read a lot of books, and can read extremely fast (I read the entire Twilight Saga within a week. This is why having one of those "this user is currently reading Xxx" userboxes would be a waste of time). My favorite book is hard to choose, but is probably Lonesome Dove. I live in the southern part of Appalachia.
