2. History

2.1- Initiation of The Order

2.1.1. September 1983: Robert Matthews wife, Debbie, prepared a banquet for eighteen guests the night The Order was founded. After the dinner, eight men left their dinner guests and followed Matthew's into the barracks, a warehouse made for meetings and gatherings. "Seated near him were the youngest faces, Richie Kemp and Bill Soderquist. There was his trusted friend, Ken Loff, and David Lane. Then there was the group from Aryan Nations: Dan Bauer, Denver Parmenter, Randy Duey, and Bruce Pierce." 

2.1.2. Robert Matthews then proceeded to lay out a Six step plan to the men: form a group, set goals, procure funds, recruitment, then Matthews tells the men that if they are willing to join and execute the actions of The Order, they must take an oath. To show the significance of the oath and what The Order is truly fighting for, Matthews asks Loff to place his six-week-old baby in front of the men while they recite the oath. After the oath Matthews continues to explain the fifth step of The Order, assassination of racial enemies. The doomsday assassinations was a list of targets, one per member, that were to be killed if the integrity of The Order was compromised. Step six required the group to form a guerrilla army for sabotage in urban areas.

2.2- Funding

The next discussion to take place was funding for actions of The Order. Options included bidding on lumber-jacking and timber contracts, counterfeiting money, funding from overseas oil countries and robberies. Timber contracts would serve as legal funding and counterfeiting money would raise new, clean money for the organization while also under-valuing the money in the US economy. The Order saw oil countries who were already allies with the US, as sources for funding because of the common enemy, Jews. Robbery was first denied as an option due to its sinful nature, until someone mentioned they could rob pimps and dope dealers, which would raise money for the organization as well as acquire assets important to street criminals and their businesses.

The organization won a bid on a timber trimming contract for a trail in the Salmo-Priest Wilderness. After five hours of blistering work, Matthews decided to call off the work and head home. Headed back to the trucks, David Lane muttered, "Well, we're going to have to be better thinkers than our fathers were, because we're sure not the men they were," while Matthew's mentions that the pay off from the job "would not fund the right wing for a week anyway." The Order decided to try their hand at robberies, attempting to target pimps and dope dealers. After weeks of trailing African American men in expensive cars and realizing they had no idea what a pimp or dope dealer truly looked like, they decided to switch to other crimes for funding.

3. Operations

Starting in October of 1983, the group executed one of their first funding operations. The job was the robbing of World Wide Video Store, a pornography store, in Spokane, Washington, netting $369.10 At the end of January the next year, 1984, another funding operation via robbery was executed. This time the target was the Washington Mutual Savings bank in Spokane, Washington. The group placed a brown paper bag containing a fake bomb in front of a clothing store near the bank and called the police, notifying them of the bomb. At this time two members of The Order went into the bank and handed a teller a note requesting money. This job netted them $3,600, of which, $200 went to Bob Miles, a racist leader in Michigan, and $100 went to The Aryan Nation group. About a month and a half later on March 16th, 1984, the group targeted a Continental Armored Transport truck in Seattle, Washington. An employee of the armored truck business, George King, carries a bag of money through the Fred Meyers department store when he is stopped by two members who present a gun. The members then take King's gun and bag of money without firing any shots. The group used a fake bomb distraction, placed in front of a nearby Safeway supermarket to divert the local police force. The bag contained $43,345. One month later, April 22-23, 1984 the group devises a more sophisticated funding robbery. On April 22nd, Gary Yarbrough places a bomb under a seat in the Embassy Theater, an X-rated, pornographic movie house. Another member of The Order then made a warning phone call to the cashier at the theater, but before any precautions could be taken, the bomb went off. The damage destroyed about 10 seats in the theater with no casualties to occupants. The explosion was to show that pornographic theaters are intolerable and to cause a distraction for the next days robbery. On the 23rd, seven members executed a robbery of another Continental Armored Transport truck, which was being operated once again by George King, the target of the other department store robbery. Denver Parmenter used his car to pin the truck into a corner, while Bruce Pierce and Randolph Duey posed as window washers nearby. When King returns to the truck with the money, Pierce and Duey draw the guns they were concealing on King and the truck driver, threatening to kill them if they do not get out of the truck. Two more members pull up in a van and brandish their weapons as well, demanding the employees get into the back of the truck. The group escaped with $536,000. $301,334 of the received sum was in the value of checks, which were burned later.

3.1 Alan Berg Assassination

Alan Berg was a Jewish radio talk show host in Denver Colorado. He was a strong opponent to racism and, with his blunt style of debate, would often insult callers on his show. He would get into hostile debates over racism, conservative beliefs and controversial issues. One day on his talk show, Berg accused a caller of being a "sick and pathetic human being". Little did he know, this caller was David Lane, who later became an accomplice in his own murder. For about three weeks before the night of Berg's murder, Lane, Bruce Carroll Pierce and Jean Margaret Craig collected information on Alan Berg's whereabouts. On the night of the murder, June 18th 1984, Berg was on a dinner date with his ex-wife Judith. Robert Matthews, David Lane, and Bruce Carroll Pierce followed Berg around for a few hours before Berg pulled into his driveway at 9:21pm. Once he exited his Volkswagen Beetle, Pierce killed him instantly with 13 rounds from an Ingram MAC-10 at point blank range.

The article has important content, but not in the most efficient form.  A section could be added to give more detail and show more importance on funding of the organization.  The ''Convictions'' section of the article could be expanded upon, categorizing each member to which crime they were convicted of.

4/4/17- Updated the History section of the article to include subheadings with the initiation of the group as well as funding.

Two Articles: Suicide Attack and Left Wing Terrorism

These two articles differ from each other greatly. The suicide attack article has much more information to it, while not all dealing with terrorism because an "attack" can come from a military perspective as well. The Left-wing terrorism article is less satisfactory, stating that communism is the heavy influence of left-wing terrorism, and continuing to explain left-wing terrorism from the perspective of politics strictly. The article did not mention environmentalist groups or any other version of left-wing terrorism. The table of contents of the SA article was more helpful to the article than the LWT table of contents to itself. The SA table of contents stated history, military history within countries, terrorism history, and weapons and tactics. The LWT table of contents only states history within certain countries, which does not do it justice. I commented on the talk page of this article stating how the table of contents could be structured to represent the ideologies of groups and not just certain countries where communist thinking groups try to overthrow the government, when there could be other groups to talk about who only want concessions from governments.~~~~Koltonwhitmire
