Reason vs. Democracy

  • If the masses say 1 + 1 = 3, does that mean 1 + 1 really equals 3?

Proof of flaws on Wikipedia

Nationalism and Wikipedia

It has become more noticeable that nationalism is a growing problem within Wikipedia. Nationalists on here use democracy, the concept of majority or consensus to prove that a certain idea or edit is acceptable. A notable example is within the Iran page whereby editors insist that Iran is synonymous with Persia; while the latter is obsolete in usage since 1935. Unfortunately, such editors are nationalists and have abused the concept of consensus to advance their interests.

Implied editing

It is therefore required that a new guideline be published such that political, religious and other discriminating factors pertaining to an editor be not used in determining the correctness of an article or a fact therein. In other words, the concept of 'implied editing' which is a play on Implied powers be introduced such that a valid conclusion can be derived from a source that is implied. Often sources can't explicitly state something because either it is encrypted, hidden, or under censorship. It is therefore down to the ability of an editor to exercise the 'implied editing' to include facts that are implicitly part of a source or implied by fact.
