RfA Survey

NOTE: THESE ARE PRE-COMPLETION DETAILS. ONCE THE SURVEY IS COMPLETE, THEY MIGHT BE DIFFERENT

The survey is still open. You can complete it here.

Various Factors

Regular IRC Users

Being active in IRC negatively affects RfA's. Several users also dislike IRC, but dismiss it as not relevant/unimportant.

Admin on another wiki

In this example, I used commons.

This is a very interesting result, as this did cause a higher percentage of supports, but also a higher percentage of opposes. Comments were mostly regarding other factors, indicating they changed their vote without realising.

Bots

Running bots, and participating in BRFA's seems to have no effect at all on a candidate. Some people commented that it was a plus, however no change in votes.

Weights

This was a section to see how much importance various factors were.

All Maintenance

Low importance

All Article work

High importance

Even balance of maintenance/article work

Mid importance

Prior editing tests in mainspace

Low importance

Prior vandalism (with a large number of edits since then)

Low importance

Template/Category work

Low-Mid importance

Bad RfA's

These were a selction of RfA's that would normally get closed or be a likely candidate for a WP:SNOW closure. I have provided the most common choice of answer

High edits, low mainspace

Recommend withdrawl/moral support (tied)

2K edits with no wikipedia-space

Comments

These were users comments, I have taken several of them and grouped them here

Current standards

Almost unanimous, they are too high. Too much editcountitis. Too much focus on mainspace contributions, ignoring maintenance.

What ways can RfA be improved

Eliminating (or greatly reducing) editcountitis. Make it into more of a discussion (currently a vote).

Restrictions

None at all. Some people prosoed some, and some were incredibly high, and some made sense. It's one thing that will never be agreed on.

Misc

Some people are making their personal criteria stricter. Needs to be a lower % for success, as often all the opposes are for one thing, and there are many reasons for the supports.
