"School Namesake"

St. Stephen

Saint Stephen lived in the time immediately following Jesus' death. Walked around quoting Jesus and talked once about how the church could be burned to the ground and the religion would remain unmarred. People took that as blasphemy and so according to the law of the time he was stoned to death in 36 BCE. He is considered to be one of the first Christian martyrs, and is also one of the Saints that the school is named after.

Saint Agnes

Saint Agnes was martyred at a very young age for the crimes of blasphemy and sacrilege. She was set up to marry a Roman man but refused, saying the Lover she would ever have would be God. When the man she was set to marry came to rape her, he was struck dead by the Lord and so she was accused of witchcraft and was burned at the stake. She is considered a double martyr, dying for her religion and virginity.
