ZBiddy.com is an online penny auction site operating in the United States since 2010.[1] Following an established penny auction model, ZBiddy charges users a fee for each bid they place on a product. When the time for a given auction expires, the last bidder wins the item and is required to pay a final bid price, which is typically much lower than the retail value of the item.[2] ZBiddy has been referenced neutrally on several news networks covering the growing trend of penny auction sites, including local Fox and ABC affiliates.[3][4]

The Penny Auction Model

As ZBiddy and other penny auctions have grown in popularity, the model by which they operate has come under scrutiny from the media and online watchdog communities, such as the BBB.[5] In some cases, penny auctions have been likened to gambling, due to the fact that winning a given auction, despite incurring some expense, is not guaranteed.[6]
