Bartholomew Dandridge (fl. 1750), portrait-painter, was, according to Walpole, the son of a house-painter. He gained considerable reputation and employment in the reign of George II as a painter of portraits and of effective small conversation-pieces. Portraits by Dandridge painted about 1750 were engraved by James McArdell and others. In the National Portrait Gallery is a picture by him of Nathaniel Hooke, the historian.
