Please note this is just me making up an article for you to correct:

The British Armed Forces are the Military of the United Kingdom of Britain. They comprise of the Royal Navy, responsible for safeguarding Britain's maritime interests globally, The British Army, responsible for protecting British interests globally with a flexible, efficent and highly trained ground force and The Royal Air Force, which protects Britain's (And to some extent, Britain's allies) Airspace globally.

Well done i'm impressed, one minor spelling mistake.

It would help you a great deal if you read these, not all of it but just enough to handle the basic foundations:

Wikipedia:NPOV tutorial - To cut the page short what this means is despite thinking something might be "the best" but instead of putting something like (for eg) "This is the most famous unit.." you could put "This could possibly be considered one of the most famous units"

Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not - (As per title)

Wikipedia:Ignore all rules - (As per title)

Wikipedia:No personal attacks - No one shall attack you under these foundations and visa versa

Wikipedia:Civility - (As per title)

OK

Citations crash course:

A citation(s) is something on Wikipedia that should be included in your text, a citation is a link to another site that backs up what you have put:

<ref>http:/example</ref>

they are insterted into articles like above, but Wikipedia formats it so theu just show up as a clickable link [1]. (See below)

So if we had a sentance saying:

The standard firearm of the British Army is an SA80[1]. To prove this you would have to find another site that backs this up.

Try your own sentance with refs now:

Some believe that Colt was one of the most ingenious weapons designers ever [2]

On Wikipedia vandalism is something you will encounter, in fact it could be argued that you will encounter more of these than decent editors. 99.99% of vandals are IP adress users (Just a code of numbers) instead of a username some will blank pages, some will foul upon them with distgusting language that you would squint at reading. But what has to be taken into account also is that not everyone who blanks a page means to do so, but fouling upon them is obviously blatant. So what you need to do is place yourself in this position:

A vandal has just replaced your userpage with a personal attack against you. What is your reaction?

(Please state below)

Reoprt it to an admin. Give them a warning and undo their edits

Good reaction although it should be noted that "one off" vandalism shouldnt be reported. This is a list of warnings that are issued to tak pages of vandals. Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace Your bound to need it sooner or later!

____________

Lets for one minute imagine that you was just about to create an article, articles should be made up of the following you can think of it like the body structure:

  • Lead Section (Head) - [1]
  • Main Section (Torso) - Detailed explanation of what the article is about
  • References (Legs) - a list of websites that back up your text. Dont forget citations (Everyone hates them but its a must)

You can create an article on whatever you want (within reason), please create one with the above in mind, below.

Heckler & Koch MK23 Mod 0

The Heckler & Koch MK 23 Mod 0 is a semi-automatic pistol intended for both military and civilian use. It was adopted for use by USSOCOM in the 1990s

It was built as an offensive weapon for the US Military, as per a request in 1989. Production began in 1991, and was the basis for the H&K USP. It has exceptional durability, being waterproof and corrosion resistant. It has ambidextrous safety switches and magazine switches.

The MK23 can fire tens of thousands of rounds without a barrel change, which along with it's durablity in harsh envoronments, makes it ideal for Special Forces. However, it's size and weight have resulted in some criticism. As a result, H&K made the USP Tactical pistol.

According to the Operators Manual,[3] there are very few differences between the civilian and military versions of the MK23, those being the slide engravings and the SAAMI conforming barrel headspace.

Done! I took the info from the real article and only copied and pasted the operators manual line ref!

Very good, well done. Police,Mad,Jack (talk · contribs) 18:54, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
