The Wikipedia Fox Cabal, also known as the fox club fox cub fox kit is a cabal about fopks. It is usually observed in its natural habit of the #foxtopic thread of the Wikimedia Community Discord Server.

The cabal has been known to have disagreements with the Squirrel Cabal and complain about the lack of foxes on Fox News.

History

TheresNoTime (TNT) began to gain a reputation on the Wikipedia Discord server for their fondness of foxes since around December 2021, with this becoming a popularly understood inside joke on the server by mid-April 2022. Several users shared this sentiment and discussions regarding foxes greatly increased, with ~965 fox-related messages sent in 2022 compared to just ~319 in 2021. On 27 April 2022, Sideswipe9th joked that #offtopic—a channel (chat room) for discussions generally unrelated to Wikipedia—be renamed to "foxtopic" due to the number of fox-related conversations taking place there.

On 29 September, I dream of horses created a thread of #offtopic regarding TNT and Sammi Brie's supposed obsession with foxes. The following day, Sideswipe joked "Wait, we finally have a #foxtopic? 🦊 [sic]", and on 1 October, TNT—a moderator of the server—changed the thread's name to foxtopic. However, the thread was initially seldom utilised, and most fox-related messages were still being posted to #offtopic.

On 16 October, TNT posted a piece of art by Twitter artist Foxing Around (@foxing_around) depicting thirteen foxes in a trench coat pretending to be a "fully functioning adult," which gradually became a meme on the server. TNT changed their server username to "6 foxes in a trenchcoat". Between 22 and 23 October during a voice chat call, almost twenty users changed their usernames to similar formats, such as "4 turtles in a trenchcoat." On 23rd, Dudhhr created an associated userbox template, and such usernames persisted well into November. On 30 November, foxtopic started seeing daily activity.

On 28 February 2023, Melecie created a userbox for the fox cabal, and on 2 March, Nintendofan885 created a jocular page in the user namespace about the Fox Cabal. The popularity of foxtopic spawn several similar threads dedicated to other animals, including squirreltopic on 8 May, trash panda cabal for raccoons on 10 June, cat topic on 15 October and bnuuy topic for rabbits (also known as bunnies) on 6 December.

On April Fool's Day 2024, ~delta created User:Fopks, attempting to take over the Fox Cabal. On the same day, sever moderator Seddon changed the name of the thread to "Fokstopic", only allowing discussion of admin Fox. This was reverted at the end of the day UTC, with Seddon saying "Humour was invented by the British and so April 1 is now over", however, the thread's name was changed to Foxtopic with a capital F. Despite some controversy, the decision was endorsed by a 13-9 poll, however, it was overturned 18 days later by the Squirrel Cabal following a 11-7 poll. Despite Seddon temporarily changing the thread's name to foxTopic, its name remains foxtopic to this day.
